plus not to mention in Season 1 the comedy was weak which is understandable since the show was starting out but not only that the citizens were alot more mean-spirited towards the Wattersons and both Gumball and Darwin were underdeveloped and different then they were Seasons 2-onward. Gumball was more childlike, naive and more of an annoying crybaby whereas Darwin was also ALOT more childike and naive. not to mention dumber and he acted like he often stood on a high moral ground. I'm just glad these changes got made in the series later on.

Gumball seems to have a rough yet solid start, just like most animated shows in the early 2010s. The show's early season has a lot of charm and simplicity with a bit of quirks, but ends up improved in later seasons as the humor started to become wackier and satirical while the lore gets deeper into the void.

Gumball is on par morality wise as cartman it's just that he's not racist, sexist, or classists etc. When it comes to unethical acts, cartman tricked his half brother into eating his own parents and Gumball kidnapped and sold Allen's parents then made him watch as they were twisted into balloon animals, screaming in agony. They are more similar than not but Gumball isn't aware half the time that he's being a dick while cartman is a little Too Aware of his cruelty

Ngl, the original Gumball style from season 1 is way better then from season 2 onward. I just like the more stylized look of the Gumball characters and while the style mixing isn’t as smooth as in the later seasons, I do like that all the style stand out and blend in at the same time, rather then them just blending in.
