Hope you get gutters.. that will be very helpful for melting snow and for rain. You might even guide it to tubs to use later. Rain water is so pure.. if you filtered it it would be so nice to wash things .. even hair with.

Hi Mel & Gary! The mountain behind you is so pretty. I remember black ice very well, I was younger was in an accident, the driver of my car hit black ice. We did a 360 circle twice before going in the ditch, thank goodness no one was hurt, probably cause she was driving so slow. You just lose control. Have a great weekend guys, so the kids all out playing on CRC Video. Fun times! LOL

Can yall use one of those delivery services to deliver groceries you might need in cases where you don't want to risk going on the bad roads? I have friends who do that in the areas where they just can't get out or they don't want to take any chances.

You are correct Gary it is the other people that don't have a clue how to drive in winter conditions. In Michigan I was driving home on M 20 was going through a light at 35 mph, and hit ice spun around across 2 lanes of on coming traffic missed everyone crossed back over spinining around and put the front into a ditch. I was very lucky and use to driving in it. Enjoy the time stay home.

We keep getting a little bit of snow, it warms up just enough to melt whatever is in the sun, then it gets cold again and the cycle repeats! At least you have lots of sun!

hi there slr. i just found something you maybe wanted to look into, there is a thing called " rebar tie gun " in short, it is a machine that use steel wire to tie rebar togheter automatic. it ties/ cut and all that fun stuff, the only thing you need to do is to give it power and wire and then you can go nuts whit the rebar. i was thinking it could be a good one to have when you are going to tie rebar togheter or if you are going to do fence inclosure. have a great day!

I only had one accident in all the years I've been driving (since 1980) and that was in winter. I used to visit my son and family once a month on the coast around 75+ miles away. It was interesting watching the seasons pass by month by month and snow never bothered me. I found a route that missed the motorways (highways) and meandered through the villages. It took a few tries as I got lost a couple of times (nothing like a mini adventure enroute!). One winter I was tootling back along the familiar roads - at night as I preferred to miss the traffic and turned down the s bend and suddenly, I couldn't feel the road and just saw hedges and trees as I spun round on the first bend. I came to a thundering stop on the side of the road on the grass verge, the rear end jammed into the hedgerow. I sat some time before moving because I had no idea what had just happened. I knew I was lucky because it was in the middle of the s bend. Had a car come up either way I would not be relating this now. A couple of cars did come by. One coming down the road I had travelled and another on the way up. One of the drivers going up passed me by and then turned back and he came to check on me. My car had landed in such a way it looked like I had parked on the grass verge. I had tried to get out of the verge but I just sank the tyres further into the muddy mess. I rang my son to ask what to do I was so confused. Because he was at home and I was nearer to my other son I had just visited he rang him to let him know. (I was about 25 minutes from his house) he came down to check on me. He called recovery, but it was going to take some hours before they could make it (being in such a rural area and he was on a call already) my son took me back as we could see we could not move the car at all. In the end, I came back in the recovery vehicle with my car on the back of the trailor (that took some time getting out of the verge and hedgerows). I was still in shock and was heartbroken to see the damage done to the car the next day. Insurance wrote it off! The roads were clear even though it was winter (and I had done that run for years no problems.) We never knew if it was black ice, oil or mud (a farming area and near to a local military area). I was lucky. It was a lovely moonlit night and not really that cold, clear roads and a delight to drive in BUT, it can happen anytime. Many years later I am still nervous driving through sharp corners. I know, makes no sense but, folks, it can happen anytime, anywhere in any weather. Remember, slow down (I wasn't speeding at all) and think, you never know if it will happen to you or someone in front of you. Better to be late, than dead on time!! 🤷 UK

My son was driving OTR for Warner and they kept him in snow country the whole winter. My son was born in Tucson and moved to Florida when he turned 18, so he really didn’t have experience driving in snow. He was driving in North Arkansas during a snow storm. He saw the black ice, so he took his foot off the accelerator and moved over the next lane. He saw a speeding jeep coming up the on ramp, so he started trying to slow down. The jeep hit the black ice and started spinning out of control, there wasn’t anyway he could avoid the accident. The jeep ended up under the front of the semi. He told his co-driver to call 911, he just killed somebody. He got out of the semi and started looking- a body and heard some and went over. The man was thrown out of the jeep and was alive. The man told my son that the did a good job hitting him. My son told the man he didn’t give him much of a choice.
