As a parent I can't agree more! I followed Marie Condo tips. It made decluttering a ton easier. And she explaines the emotional part. Now, Less stress, less cleaning time, less anxiety from cluttered home. Often it is all junk clutter. After implementing mininalism, clean house most of the time, even when it is 'cluttered' I can set it up in 10-15 minutes, if totally messy 30 min max. before tidying up would take couple hours. As a Mom I am certain clutter was affecting my cortisol levels. I did want to spent more time with family, with myself, at the same time had to keep the house clean and often I would procrastinate and end up with not presentable home at all. Now it is fresh and calm 90% of time and kids learn to be organised and grow to love tidyness, clean environment and adds up as a bonus when they watch you and learn not to spend money on junk and be mindful and purposeful, that is great thing to have. Now I don't have to re organise all that waste clutter, it is all donated, now that time goes for me , family, things I love and truly enjoy. I even started making my own art haven't been drawing since high school. I have time now for that. Home meals 95% of time. Less stressed out, happier parents automatically become better parents! And as a result happier kids! Win win!

Hey Michele ❤️ wow!!! You’re in the same boat as us!! Isn’t it funny how our homes can throw people off when it’s minimal and spacious 😂😂
@lisa-pj8ss3 жыл бұрын
Wow! Thank you for sharing all that with us. It is so good to see a family of five with young kids do what you did. Inspiring! Your video gave me 'permission' to not have things like a throw blanket or a kid's dresser just because that's what everyone has. I have let go of other things like 6 sets of silverware or 12 mugs that matched the dishes and I thought that was revolutionary (thanks, Joshua Becker)! It is funny how new and strange the whole concept of minimalism can be to some of us and how sometimes I need to be given permission by a stranger that it's ok to let go of an item.

Love you guys! What a beautiful family! I love your serene space! I have found that toys impede our children's play and so with each child we have reduced our toys ...now with 5, we hardly have any, they play so much better together, deeply, imaginably, creatively! Our kitchen table is a castle, a pirate ship, a plane... anything their minds can muster up. They don't need THINGS to play imaginatively. I wish I had known that before I bought out ToysRUs.. but live and learn:) You guys are ahead of the game!

This video is amazing! As a mom, I feel like all I do is clean, and clean, and clean some more yet my house constantly looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. It's so overwhelming and stressful at times... Sometimes, well most of the time, I find that minimal videos seem too extreme or not functional/livable. New subbie here. I really enjoyed your hone tour. We’re just starting our minimalist journey - same reason why: kiddos. We started off in control but now it’s gotten to the point where we are managed by our things. A few months ago I picked up around the house three times in one day and really watched my kids play. It was eye opening. They’d pick an ugly plastic toy up, put it in mouth, and then chuck it down. Repeat. They weren’t playing. They were just touching. All day I watched and picked up and thought about how tired I always was and how my brain felt cluttered like I couldn’t make a decision because there was so much visual and emotional clutter. That’s what started it off. I’d box up those annoying little people dolls and all the broken or missing stuff and they wouldn’t ask for them and I got braver over time. I’ve reduced by about 50% including our adult stuff and I am feeling sooooooo much better. I have more to do but if this is the start I can’t wait to let go of more. And omg I love how much easier it is already to clean up
@TheArmsteadFamily3 жыл бұрын

Love how involved your husband is!!! I was married to a traditional Greek husband that thought the home was my responsibility since I was the wife and he worked. Lol im single today in my early 50s. I teach my teenage son how to cook and clean and he is proud to do both. The only room I dislike is babys nursery. I would prefer if it was my space to put all the kids in the large room and use the smallest room for office and workout space. The babys room just looks depressing and confusing to rest in. The rest of your home is idelliac and im so envious i just can't understand the baby space. Just my opinion.

Yes, my husband and I also share the same conditioner and deodorant. Deodorant is the gray Charcoal + Mag from Schmidt's. And what is it about kids and couch pillows? Every mom I've ever met has lamented about the couch pillows on the floor. We also got rid of our pillows.

Hey Ann ❤️! You’re just like us 😂... and honestly I have no idea why kids are obsessed with throwing the pillows everywhere... sometimes we just let them lol

What a life changing transformation! Such a beautiful home. Also, I totally feel you on the kids getting into stuff. We had to call poison control TWICE because our daughter ate her toothpaste. After the first time we *thought* we put it where she couldn't reach it, with baby-proof locks.... but, nope. It's now in a cabinet with a very unattractive combination lock.

Hey Cassafrass ❤️ thank you so much! And yes, it can be challenging trying to find ways to keep kids away from products 😂 glad you’re daughter is ok and you figured out a clever way to hid it 😊

I love this !!! You did a great job editing and this is s motivating me to get rid of more. I've started decluttering but it's no where near as much as Y'all have. I need to go through the house again 😅

Hey Karrie ❤️ awww thank you so much!! Having our house like this has really helped us maintain so much easier.. we can’t imagine going back to the clutter with having 3 kids and trying to keep it tidy!!

Congratulations on being part of the colab! So grate to see a husband and wife working on minimalism together. You are a lovely family! What a blessing that you've discovered this early in life and can pass on great habits to your children! God bless.
