Thank you for posting this video. My wife and I recently traveled on the Sapphire Princess but on a cruise to Alaska. We enjoyed it very much although had some problems due to engine problems on the ship causing port cancellations. So we are going back to Alaska next year on the Coral Princess. We have friends who went to Antarctica on an expedition cruise and we didn't think we could ever go as we are an older couple and my wife has some difficulties with mobility and walking. But now after seeing your video I believe we could definitely go on a Princess cruise to Antarctica. Something ne for our bucket list!

Very beautiful scenery. I will be heading towards Antarctica next January on an expedition cruise . I could have done what you guys did. However, stepping on Antarctica it self would be an accomplishment for me being to all the seven continents , unlike on a sightseeing cruise you are not allowed to disembark the ship to head over on to land. Expeditions cruises are definitely expensive and a regular person would rather buy a car with that money instead of spending it on a cruise. Expeditions cruises normally has 2 disembarkation a day, which can be a zodiac tour through the ice, kayaking, paddle boarding or landing on the 7th continent to see the wild life of the Antarctica , and to top it off with a polar plunge. So each type of the cruse has its pros and cons , and so I have been working really hard to be able to afford this type of expedition for many years. Very nice and helpful about the weather too, and what to bring.
@dianacrane45326 ай бұрын
Awesome!!!! It is worth saving up to do Antarctica on an Expedition cruise. Antarctica is much more than looking at it and the wildlife at a distance on a large cruise ship. Only 100 people at a time can step on the continent at a time, so it's impossible on this ship. I thought it was interesting when they put down Expedition cruises and had never been on one.

I did a 9-day expeditionary cruise for only $5000. We spent 5 days on Antarctica. There were only about 300 people on board. Antarctic regulations only allow for a total of about 300 people a day getting off a ship. This is why expeditionary cruises are so small. So everyone can get off the ship each day. We did a polar plug. Went to numerous beaches to see penguins and seals. Saw many whales. We visited Port Lockroy. We went penguin-sledding and had a snowball fight. We saw a leopard seal, and an iceberg flip over. It wasn't fancy, but we didn't go for a ship. We went to experience Antarctica. If a big ship is all you can afford, then that's fine. But if you do your research, you can get an expeditionary ticket for not a lot more, and I promise you won't regret it.

Hey guys! Antarctica is a once in a lifetime opportunity we’d highly recommend. As this is not an expedition you do not do the polar plunge and do not set foot in Antarctica because of the amount of people on board. However the price point and the facilities means you can still scenic cruise through Antarctica and it was bloody amazing! Excursions are at the port destinations!
@dianacrane45326 ай бұрын
@@dabbleandtravel If you want a full Antarctica experience, please know this ship is not it. At no time do you get to step on land and that's a truly amazing and life changing experience. The zodiacs are a wonderful way to get close to the wildlife and glaciers. The ice actually makes sounds as you pass by them. Stunning! The polar plunge is an experience like no other! Certainly wouldn't trade it for a certificate. Decide what type of ship you are going on with a full understanding. There are expedition-type ships that are not as expensive as you might think. It's worthwhile looking into all of your options.

@@dianacrane4532I'm sure it would be simply amazing to go on an expedition cruise. However, if that is not feasible due to budget constraints, I think many people would rather cruise by and see Antarctica from a distance versus not seeing it at all.

Not worth it. If you want to do Antartica, do NOT do it on a large named cruise line. Pay the extra money to do it on a small expedition boat. You don’t get to get off or see the better things on a big boat like this. 2000 people? Lol my ship had 160 and it blew this cruise out of the water. Pay the money, so it right. You will hit yourself if you make the trek there and just get to look from afar.

@@jennny Silversea I heard is awesome. I’d recommend the Silversea Endeavor. I felt more than safe on the smaller expeditions ships. Yeah new D&T Content, whoop whoop! For the price, it is certainly a nice experience to get a taste of Antarctica to get a first impression and have been there, but the expedition ships are in a different league. It's nice how grateful you are for being content with little things and your positive nature is definitely the right attitude to life. The sweater was probably bought for a few Taka in Bangladesh and sold on board for 70 pounds, LOL! I know people in England who made a lot of money selling clothes from Bangladesh and India.

You're obsession with the drake was on another level. It was all you talked about for i guess 2/3 of the video 😅. But although you missed out on that experience, i'm glad you had pretty smooth sailing and a lovely time on board. Molly is just so lovely.
