Biden’s opened up so many drill permits in AK that all the good mechanics at my work in Anchorage and Wasilla have gone up to the oilfields. This job is a pretty damn good one, too. Our resources are definitely being taken advantage of.
True, it is funny in a way. But it is also based on some self deception on the part of the person writing it, because they deliberately ignore the two conflicting parts of the issue. Different people do this with different issues. The two parts are: (1) The horror of making a mistake and getting an unwanted pregnancy. (2) the fact that we don't really know at what point your own mother could have killed you in your womb without harming you. Imo, the best solution is to make aborting your child in womb have the exact same principles as any other political topic. Many people reverse their values when abortion comes up. That would probably mean that in high school or later, you get a license to abort your own child, just like you get a license to kill in self defense when you get a gun; or potentially kill someone when you drive on the road. Power should always come with responsibility, should it not? Why not when it comes to the power you have over your child?

They don't need someone in Los Angeles telling them what to do? Some of their food and other products likely goes through Long Beach. California supplies massive quantities of food to other states. Alaska is probably getting its citrus from California. Maybe 10% of the US population in a single state (with a massive chunk of the world economy) has a say in the rest of the country. And definitely oil is destroying life as we know it. Maybe Alaska needs to live within its means. "It's a resource state." A resource that is doing more harm than good. Maybe keep it in the ground.
