Beautiful video guys. Elephant encounter isn't all that bad comparing to what has happened to many other people with these giants. Someone must have pissed him off and that's why he is chasing behind everyone. May be it will be a memorable experience for you in a good way😅

We didn't quite get the full picture. In the first instance we saw the elephant chasing , then the vehicle stopped you got out & we heard the driver shouting at the elephant. Why did you stop instead of getting the hell out of there? As someone else has already mentioned I think the elephant has got something against the driver.

Always follow the rule "go with the flow". You are in wild country. So I would not even think of being too adventurous. I would only stay in places where it's safe for tourists to roam and mingle. It's very helpful to do research and ask around before going to place that is not touristic. Can't go over the fact why the tuk tuk driver kept yelling at the elephant. It aggravated the elephant. When I visited Sri Lanka and went to Yala to see elephants. I was asked to very quiet and not to make noises. I went with a professional wild life expert, and he observed complete silence and we were okay, the elephant minded its own business. But what I saw was horrible, the driver aggravating the elephant. If I were you, I would consult with professionals when dealing with the unknown. You may be lucky once, but may not be the second time.

We actually were at a very popular surfing spot! The places sees a lot of tourists, but tourist season was ending soon. We weren’t trying to look for any elephants! Just trying to go surf 😁

There is a defference between a pack of elephants and a Single lone male elephant. Tuk tuk driver saw it early and was trying to scare it away using elephant language. These locals know what they are doing. Lone elephants kill many people each year in Sri Lanka. Packs of Elephants dont do that.

Some time Elephant go wild when they sense the Perfume scent. It is wise not to go near elephant with perfumes. Here a different story though. This one is a 'Thani aliya' meaning a single elephant. They are always in anger.

Oh my God... If an animal like elephant is chased like that twice in one day, that is the most dangerous moment that you don't want to experience in your life... Elephants are usually peaceful animals. Females may, however, be aggressive when young calves are present and bulls can be exceptionally aggressive during musth. All elephants may become aggressive when sick, injured or harassed... This is why these types of elephants are more aggressive compared to national park elephants..

Your guide was already starting to move quickly before the elephant started to chase, so he knew something was going to happen. This is your first time so that's why you were scared.
