Thanks So Much For Watching! Tell me what you think? Did Echo fix the problem with stronger plastic or will the metal arbor still melt the trimmer line inside?
@lukeroberts60193 ай бұрын
Maybe they should just go back to the old design that actually works.

I think the 500 head will still melt. It will just take longer. That will extend the life outside of the warranty period and....job done.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! Echo should go back to what works…I have an old SRM 210 that I’ll watch your videos and finish repairing. But I really love my Stihl.

Sounds a lot like "flex-gate" with Apple notebooks. It took YEARS to prove to Apple that the ribbon cable connecting the screen was too short. Apple finally issued a recall to replace those short ribbon cables... with the SAME too-short ribbon cable! And they did not extend the recall to newer models with the exact same problem!!! - edit: Or the plastic oil intercooler on Pentastar engines, or the oil-submerged oil pump drive belt in Ford pickup engines (forget the model), or the transverse compressor in LG refrigerators, or... Simple formula. Corporation makes a new design to save them a few fractions of a percent per unit, paying customers are the beta-test, units fail in droves, company denies all responsibility as long as possible, aftermarket parts and independent repair create a useful fix, corporation takes credit for the fix. - For these trimmers, the "fix" sems to be putting a 400 or 450 series trimmer head on.

Upgraded my old Shindiawa T-230 with a 400 head and it is amazing especially with a pre-Echo owned Shindiawa. I am not a huge fan of Echo because they took THE BEST Weed Whacker made and changed it to their Echo weed whacker. 30 years old folks! All original except for the carb I had it replaced 2 years ago, but its still original everything else. I used it two years commercial and then kept it as my home owner after I quit doing lawns. I still have it and it is still my go to Weed eater so light and powerful! When I took it to our local Echo dealer to upgrade the head since Echo owns Shindiawa now the owner told me never sell it just rebuild it when time comes because its a pre-emissions model so it has tons of power.

Long time viewer here. I took your advice a few weeks ago and upgraded my 24 year old SRM230 to a speed feed 400 and couldn't be happier. I maintain 2.5 acres with this trimmer, so it gets a lot of use for a homeowner, and I must say I've never had one problem with it. Bravo regarding your work in getting this problem resolved. As my Grandmother from Fort Smith would always say “the squeaky wheel always gets the grease”. As a child I didn’t have a clue what she was talking about. I strongly dislike making a fuss about problems with any product. I would just quit buying it and that will never do a thing to get a solution to fix the problem. Good job on this fix. Best Regards Al Hartley
