It's just so disappointing seeing all these new Naruto, Dragon Ball and other franchises literally being the same game! all are the same! - similar graphics, same boring 3D arenas, walls of text over some slideshow instead of proper cutscenes, no mini-games, no proper 3D world to have a separate beat-em-up game mode with quests and bonus unlockables...NOTHING! Should I even start ranting about freaking in-game menus being a freaking LOBBY, WHERE YOU HAVE TO RUN AROUND CHARACTERS JUST TO GET TO SETTINGS MENU!?!?! UGH... I soooooooooo miss .hack// (original, NOT GU!), Ultimate ninja games (1-5 WERE SUPER EPIC and each had something new and different!)

Maybe a hot take but I loved the uzumaki chronicles games when I was a kid. It made the naruto world feel scary

The Chronicles games are the only Naruto games that explore what is the life of an average Leaf ninja. You pick your mission, and leave the village to complete the tasks. Those games had such a eerie vibe because it didn't follow the storyline of the manga and it was mostly about Naruto alone exploring places far outside the Leaf Village.

They WERE cooking, but no way would they be able to make a game with such expressions and still have the same amount of characters as Storm 4. Extremely talented people, though. Great report, btw.

They.. Definitely would. Do you not realize how much of Storm 4's content is just copy/pasted from Storm 1-3, Genrations and Revolution? And how much of Storm 3's is copy/pasted from Storm 2, Generations and 1?

​@@AkatsukiClash Except I do. First off, where are you getting the idea that this game would've come out in (presumably 2008) with the same amount of characters as Storm 4? Storm 1 covers the entirety of Part 1 and still only has 25 characters. By 2008 the Shippuden anime would've only been up to the early parts of the Hidan & Kakuzu arc, so realistically this game would only cover just about everything up to Orochimaru's hideout, and end there (and maybe have Hidan and Kakuzu as a little bonus.) We're looking at a roster that is basically the exact same lineup as Storm 1, just with their Part II iterations, Deidara, Sasori, Chiyo (and MAYBE) Hidan, and Kakuzu. Budgets are one thing, yes. But 2008, this is their next big game in the highly successful Ultimate Ninja series, a series that by this point had already sold well over 5.7m copies ( which was a big deal back then), so they knew the investment would be worth it, and Shueisha & Bamco would absolutely approve. The only thing POTENTIALLY stopping this, is the fact that the PS3 (and ESPECIALLY the 360)'s CPU would have trouble with these animations, and cause the game to run worse than it already did. The 15,000 polygon models were already too ambitious like they said, and they (CC2) didn't even have accurate PS3 dev kits yet.

Honestly I would’ve preferred if the very lively facial animations were present. If they were consistent with all there games and maybe implemented into Connections, a lot more people would have been drawn to the game because it would make it sort of next gen. With the long wait for Connections, they still really didn’t switch up much to make the game feel like its own and worth buying. Maybe they should revisit this idea eventually even if it’s t isn’t for a Storm game

Wow, I have been a CyberConnect 2 fan for the past 20 years and didn't know about this demos. Very good information and content!! It's a shame that Bandai probably didn't give them the time or the budget to create games with this level of quality, but they actually did a few cutscenes and animations look like this during the boss fights in the Storm series.

The storm series is when they went from simplistic Ps1-style cartoony visuals with 2d faces to complex PS3 cartoony visuals with expressive 3d faces. I bet they were so beautiful that they kept it on storm 2 onwards. Congratulations CC2!!!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤

All i wanted was for them to add to storm one going forward. The game was good and each character was unique. Each had their own way they threw shurikens during ninja move. The jutsu looked bigger and grand and wr have a special attack when you held down the attack button. All we get now is rushed ultimates, less combos and sub spam.

You know how almost every old DBZ game had a story mode.Well they just did it in kakarot so would it be right if they did the same for Naruto.The only interesting story in connections is the boruto part.They need to redeem themselves. Imo Storm 1 was the best one in terms of gameplay I wish they followed that formula all the way through with the clashes and the story mode having the best freeroam ever like the first it just feels like the higher they went with the game the worse it got in terms of the story, imagine being able to free roam with six of sage path Naruto using the Kurama hands to swing around buildings and stuff and moving at high speeds around the villlage and the woods

I think as a finished project it would’ve been a more lively Storm 1. They took a half measure with the character intros they aren’t racing in like Gai did but they have some movement before the match starts
