Great slab catching video!!! On the net that Jay caught, to keep it from sinking.....shoot some of the expandable foam inside the handle and slip a 18 inch piece of pool noodle onto the handle down close to the net and secure it with a few zip ties or some small string like trotline string. No more sinking landing net.

Some of the best fish I've ever caught up here in Northern Arkansas were and are on the magnets (crappie, trout amd panfish). Keep up the fabulous work you 2 and i cant wait to see what you 2 throw at us through this difficult time to come. You guys can always come up this way and fish some. Some nice walleye, all panfish, smallmouth, catfish and etcetera. On the the Spring river in Hardy. Oh, and i feel that lost monster. My heart sunk...

Do you have private access to the spring river?

Gotcha, we were up there a few days ago trying to launch at many islands and it was all closed up. We ended up launching at another site but it wasnt really where we wanted to fish.
@want2boutdoors274 Жыл бұрын
@COLE_and_JAY well next time your up this way to fish, there is a boat ramp around the RV campground and park area. I know a few places right now can be rough. Theres also a boat ramp at Beaufort beach in Hardy. It's by the falls. You can beach your canoe and take it around the falls. Ive caught walleye all around. Of course same goes for all the fish. The deepest stretch is up amd around the RV area.

It's always nice to see the both of you in friendly competition and enjoying every moment. You're gonna have to make a trip down to Ross Barnett Reservoir in Jackson, MS while they decide what to do about your home lake. I know it truly hurts and I couldn't imagine not being able to do something that you've been doing likely on an everyday basis after walking out your front door.

I like it when you fish at this location. I feel bad for all the people that built houses there thinking they would be on the water (and for you two as well), Now everyone will have a big old mud hole front lot for the next few years. use crappie and trout magnets all the time and they are very effective baits. orange and chartreuse and others are the bomb. Plus love the floats which you easily attach to line and put stopper in to keep them from moving. I love the white/chartreuse trout magnet in tiny baits as they really get the crappie too.

@justingulick6747 Жыл бұрын
Cole you and boss lady was killing it on them slabs. And I can't lie when you lost that fish I was heartbroken and frustrated at the same time. Why do you use such low pound test on your crappie poles? I'm just wondering because you know there's always a chance that you could catch striped bass or catfish with that setup. At the same time I also know that you didn't lose the fish because of your line. Should have just fought that sucker till he was tired. I think he was probably big enough that he wouldn't have got tangled up because you probably wouldn't have went through that brush pile. Anyways great video guys keep it up
@williambenner701 Жыл бұрын
I'm still wondering about the " mystery fish". Could it really been a flathead? What other types of fish are there? Freshwater drum maybe the most logical possibility though. Great video!
@johnbuniack5671 Жыл бұрын
I say big turtle. The rod tip just didn't have the action that said fish.
@COLE_and_JAY Жыл бұрын
Most likely a big buffalo or grass carp by the way it was running. Since I didn’t have any slime on the line when it came off I think I’m ruling out catfish.
@williambenner701 Жыл бұрын
@@johnbuniack5671 I personally don't think so, because it was pulling drag differently than a turtle does. I have hooked a lot of turtles and they don't fight like that fish did.

Best way to catch crappie is with onions. Get a kroner sack of onions, get to where the crappie hang out. Chop the onion up rough like is good enough. As one person paddles, the other should be chunking out the onions over the target site.. Then when they come up crying, just dip them up.
