Take one paragraph from our scriptures each week to apply to daily life. If just 10 percent of those who identify as Hindu do this, our country will transform. Karma is action or duty, not of the past not of the future but the present. The Bhagavath Geetha talks of karma as a means to liberation and realization of the ultimate truth. Again it is only one of the paths to liberation, others being Bhakti, Raja yoga, Gyana yoga, etc. Guna has nothing to do with your kula, people of any kula or varna can possess any of these attributes or combination of them. The gunas in the context of the type of food was of course dependent on the particular profession. The diet of somebody pursuing scholarly work is not going to be the same as somebody who does physical labour.
