We won a wrecked Harley CVO street glide at auction. How bad could it be

Won a Street Glide CVO from IAA. Let’s see how quick we can turn it around and get riding it. Damage looks light. Not sure why they totaled it but I’m not arguing. Ordered all the parts from EBay.

Not a bad idea. I need to see what stock was on that model. So far it’s pretty hard on my neck. Assuming it’s the bar height. It’s not bad on the highway with the cruise set. But slow corners are more like get out my way. lol.

I have the same bike bought it new......you are a artist....on repair..... keep it stock......looks amazing......I always get compliments on the bike every ride.....stay safe...ps.... someone changed the wheels to Agitater chrome ...and a 19 in the front . Looks great 👍

If your worries about the value down the road pull all the tins or painted parts paint correct to factory spec buy a set if black tins and paint them the color you want. When you go to sell it you have the rare stock paint to put back on for max value. I worked for Harley for 8 years and I own a CVO that’s what I did.

That’s actually my thoughts also. Just put the old skins on the shelf. There’s so many used parts out ghee I don’t think it would be to expensive.

Holding value due to salvage will be tough. There for strip the bike and so what you want to make it your bike. Have fun with it and do what you want. Beautiful bike my friend looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with it.

I’m with you, I hate the bars, the highest I would have gone was 12 inches. Also Eagle lights is a great company with great products and customer service.

Good to know about the headlight. It’s hard to decide these days on who makes quality parts. The reviews were good from what I read so I took a chance. Harley wanted $800 for the original light.

Harleys have always been a work in progress. Making it your own is my preference. As to value down the road, who knows? Some of the questions you have to ask yourself is how long are you going to keep it, how many miles will you put on it, etc. I have a 1978 shrine flh, I've had it for more years than I want to admit. But there's nothing stock on it. It's a bobber through and through. It would be worth four times as much if it was 100% original, but I will have it until my last breath. So I don't care about the value. It's priceless to me as is now. When it comes down to it, it is up to you and what you want. Good luck either way you decide. I'll add that I also have a 1992 Electra Glide Ultra Classic all stock except custom exhaust. And a 1991 Springer Softtail with custom paint ,satin black with hand pinstripes signed by Wild Bill.

I would do as many performance mods as i could and leave appearance mostly stock. the lower fairing make a nice ride when it's cold out i would pick up some those..LED lighting for sure. Loud Air horn. Taller suspension for better handling. enjoy

Ride it, enjoy it, do what you want with it. Ignore the " collector value " because it will only be worth what anyone is willing to pay for it. You already have less into it that what it sold for at dealer, you are miles ahead, the fact that you purchased at a salvage auction, the title will always reflect the damage history. Own it, enjoy it the way you want to enjoy it, put a price tag on it that you would be comfortable selling it for, ( everything has a price ) if you get that price tag, sell it, if you dont, then the harley will be loved and enjoyed.

On the right side of the tank towards the back near the seat it should tell you what number bike that is of that paint scheme out of the total number in that paints game. You have to look for it it's kind of small

I purchased a Harley from the Salvage Auction years ago. It is now called a home built bike. Even though it's all Harley it's not insured as a Harley and it's not titled as a Harley . Personally I would just leave it the way it is I wouldn't worry about the paint I would just enjoy the heck out of it and because it's a salvage auction it's never going to be worth as much as a Harley would even if it's a rare bike in my opinion

The days of Harley Davidson‘s holding value have passed. The CVO‘s do hold it a little better than the average bike, but not enough to worry about. Not sure if you have a clean title or not but that will also affect value. I had the original 2000 screaming Eagle Rd. glide, and presently have a 2024 CVO Rd. glide. Neither one will or has held value enough to make me not want to do whatever I want with my bike. So do whatever you want it’s not going affect it enough to matter IMHO.

Salvage title. plan on rebuilding it for yourself, It would never get any money like one that was not salvage.

My only suggestion to since I own a 2009 CVO Road Glide and a 2010 Street Glide: Service your brake fluid with new fluid. HD used Dot 4 those years, they did a recall about 5 years ago on those years because they never said you should replace the fluid every two years until around 2014ish. I had to replace the ABS module on my 2010 because of the water damage from the brake fluid. You'll know when this happens... your front or rear brake will stop working... or both could stop. A number of videos on how to do this without setting off the check engine light. Just my suggestion...

always better to leave her stock if you care if a collector will take her when you are gone, specially since that is a limited bike. even if to just sell later so many Harleys are messed with and many buyers will not want it, but a stock machine has a better history to sell. just my 2 cents.

I think any type of collectors dream is a thing of the past because you bought it from an insurance auction that means that the title is going to say Salvage on it meaning it's not going to be worth half of what it would be with a good title. Take that thing apart sand it down paint it and make it yours

Everyone I know in the Harley world customizes their bagger. I assume your bike has a salvage or reconstructed title. The value will never be tremendous. I would do what you felt would make it your bike.

Perfect. I assumed it would need something in that area but it rides straight down the road. Put 200 miles on it that weekend. Cruise set at 70. One hand on the bars. Because the other hand was sleeping lol. Not sure if like the bars yet.

Looks red to me. Leave it the same color, run for a year or so. Then if you still like the bike but still hate the color, paint it. Personally, I wouldn't change the color. I really don't think the bike would be worth more if it's original.

With fees(which are stupid high) I paid 5600. All done tax Title and license. 6500 total. It’s wasn’t a steel but to buy it on marketplace is around 14k so 50% cheaper then buying a clean title used one with similar mileage. I didn’t want to have 10k in a bike I might not ride. I’ll get my money back easy enough if I don’t use it. You think it was a good deal? Or waste of time?

It rides perfect. Put 300 miles on it so far. They total them because it’s very difficult to paint new parts to match the original. They would rather write you a check and wash their hands to the whole deal. Jayme bought one “totalled”. It was delivered to his shop. He had it inspected that day and was riding it that night. It needed a paint job but he rode it that summer as Is. Never did find anything wrong with it. No clue why it was totalled. He still has it also.

It’s tough. You don’t know you have an audio issue till it’s too late. I’m either fighting the camera or the mic. Some days they work awesome. Some days not. Very frustrating. Just started using a different mic from the same company (DJI) that blue tooth’s in instead of hardwired. I’m doing my best.
