All the witch cultist who used unseen hand was Betelguese all along. The conditions for him to posses a body is first the body has to be blessed by the witch and have the witches miasma and second the body must have high affinity to spirits but not contracted to one. Subaru has witches miasma and also he happen to have high affinity spirits. Thats how Betelgeuse possessed him.

Nice, I knew basically how but didn't know the conditions that were required for him to possess.

There is one other condition - you can’t have a contract with another Spirit. Because Betelgeuse’s ability is actually a forced contract with the person he’s possessing. This means he’s actually an Artificial Spirit. (We learned about this in the Pride IF story)
