In this video, Matt will show you how to strengthen weak glutes. This weak glute exercise will help you engage sleepy butt muscles. If you have a weak butt, gluteal amnesia, or get pinching pain during the pigeon pose, give this butt exercise a try. Firing your glutes will improve your hip hinge and squat so you can move your hips without pain! Learn how to do the pigeon hinge or hinge pigeon with me!

When's the last time you felt your glute fire properly? If you've been told you have FAI, check out the FAI Fix at www.thefaifix.com For non-FAI hip stiffness and pain, get the Healthy Hips 1 program: www.uprighthealth.com/healthy-hips

This is a really good exercise. I have a hard time activating the glutes with many "traditional" exercises. But this worked instantly.

This one has been a game changer for me. I was having a hard time getting my glutes to turn on without stressing out my hamstrings (which seem to be the cause of my knee pain). This move allows me to get the glutes without the hamstrings. Thanks for sharing Matt.

Your posts have helped me SO MUCH during quarantine!!! I am a martial artist, and I stepped out of my training during quarantine because I was beginning to experience a lot of physical discomfort after time in the dojo. So quarantine was a healing blessing for me. I have discovered all sorts of imbalances and weaknesses in my body while healing during quarantine, and your videos have helped me "come back" to my body in a healthy, balanced way! (And your honesty about having a little one at home is really relatable for this single mom!)💪🏼🥳

This is so very sensible- I have terrible glut /piriformis weakness / tightness and all you normally see is the full on pigeon - which for me is impossible- there are easier stretches but the modified pigeon is the best - I’d already been trying to modify it for myself but this video has given me more encouragement and good tips to customise it Thanks

absolute godlike excersize, couldn't get my glutes to activate no matter what i did (bridges, thrusts, stretches, marches, squats with bands, literally tried everything). Hamstrings, lowback, or quads ALWAYS took over. After doing this I can actually feel a burn in my glutes during regular excersize

If you have trouble to keep your hips square you can use a chair on the opposite side of the glute you try to train for some extra support. Let's say you try to fire the right one you can use a chair on the left side for some extra support with your arms.

can you please give some tips on how to stop the quads to dominate before the hips firing up? In most of the movements that I do to train my hips to activate, my quads always feel like working more. Is there anything you recommend to do to keep the quads more relax and use more hips.

I subscribed to the FAI fix, but have been 'off' it for a week as I started a new job. I tried this exercise today and am hopeful it will get my left side firing. I can barely do one SLRDL on that side (no weight), though my right side is fine.

I have low muscle tone and this is a huge issue for me. Was just in the hospital for sciatic issues all due to no flexation in my ankle. Which has now moved all the way into my hip and back with anterior pelvic tilt. Your videos are helpful. Thank you! I do still have no mobility in my ankle though. I sorta think my talus bone is blocking it. Any advice you could give. I'd appreciate!

Hi, I'm 69 had fusion L1 -L5, also October 2019 had surgery to attach complete torn medius and minimus muscles on right side. Unfortunately they have completely re-torn. My surgeon is going to retry using mesh this time but only if the medius hasn't retracted any further (7 cm) post failure. If not possible he will remove debris and a great deal of swelling in the area, so it won't a waste of time and pain. Oh boy, sorry about the preamble but necessary to explain. Will this exercise cause problems prior to surgery and of course in the future if they can be attached. I've always exercised and walked thousands of kms hence the wear and tear. Upside is I'm healthy. Do you have perhaps other exercises I could do, doing the bridge does cause cramping on the right hammie, it also has a tear. Much appreciated Rosemary

How about 'clamshell' exercise for glutes or other side lying glute exercises. You can find some on this channel. I too could not manage the bridge at first.

Tricky bit is to keep your spine neutral and not lean your body forward or backwards. I use a pillow to keep the neck in line with the body.
@roses9339
@roses9339 4 жыл бұрын
I do the clamshell, there are different views on this. Some say keep straight then there is another view. The top knee is to be forward and lean slightly to the front. It would be great if I got the correct method. Rosemary

Would be great if Upright Health can provide some advice. I'm curious to know too. I've had to modify positions/angles sometimes so that I can feel more of the correct areas working. Or regress or avoid some exercises altogether even if everyone can do them or they're recommended. Have a lot of imbalances,range of motion and alignment issues so the 'right way' often doesn't work for me. Are you seeing improvements with the clamshell? If so, then perhaps (in my humble layperson opinion), the way you're doing it might be correct for you.
@roses9339

@@boost-9689 You and me both. Unsure if clamshell either method is doing much, muscles are extremely weak. I will keep trying both methods and hope they do something positive. Rosemary

Cause a lot of people don't use there glutes properly or have really weak once cause the spend a lot of time sitting down.
