AMERICAN $$$$'s The problem is that America does three things at the same time. Firstly, it grants certain amounts of 'Foreign Aid', (the phrase hides anything and everything both for good and evil), to countries which are sums on paper, which is then, in turn, spent back in America. Such Congessional Bills as there are, which provide for such aid, invariably contain 'Earmarks' for Congressmen & Women, as well as Senators for their districts. These 'Bills' are never simple and straightforward things. They often run to thousands of pages to disguise the 'Earmarks' contained within them. They invariably contain the phraseolgy, "........and for such other purposes...." at the end of the Bill, (sometimes in the final sentence). So right there we have all that is wrong with Congressional Bills.....! Second, it prints $$$'s at will, which are invariably absorbed and lost across the world almost as soon as they are printed. Once printed and 'lost' America has no control over where they are or the uses to which they are being put. Third, it is in thrall.....and arguably in hock to the United Nations, whose malign influence, (it is mainly in the hands of the Left and the Marxists), acts to pressure the West, and America in particular, to provide more $$$'s for anything and everything on a daily basis for whatever cause it thinks fit. What could possibly go wrong with these three things...? James Hennighan Yorkshire, England P.S. To be fair to America it has made various attempts to deal with the many issues behind the UN and how it operates....so we are talikng about Grift and Corruption with the $$$'s that the UN dispenses, across it's many organisations... This has had only limited success....and here one thinks of the work of John Boulton and to a lesser extent (whilst she was there), of Nikki Haley, but essentially not enough has been done. Unfortunately the 'Root & Branch' reform that is required at the UN has not been caried through to a satisfactory conclusion. It is something which the US....as the largest contributor to it....has still to resolve. Whether we will all live to see this done is another matter entirely...!
