AAAM is good. But internals?
@hilarylouisdoyle1529
@hilarylouisdoyle1529 Жыл бұрын
@@mycroft19051905 Please look carefully and you will see the AA&AM Jagdpanther is simply a static display shell. There are no internal details let alone a full original Maybach automotive package. Display exhibits like that can be tacked together with limited precision in a few months indeed it even has a Panther Ausf.G engine deck rather than a Jagdpanther one. There is no comparison to the years of research and detailed engineering work need to get the Weald Jagdpanther 411 back to full running order and equipped just as it was on leaving the factory in 1945.

AAAM do a great job, but TWF is on another level.

I believe that AAAM Jagdpanther was built from pieces and still are gathering parts to get the internals running. Either way I'd love to help do a project like that, just for fun...

@@hilarylouisdoyle1529 Yes, that's my point. I was trying to be... diplomatic. You guys at WF set the standard for WW2 vehicle restorations. And I love your work, Mr Doyle. I'm privileged that you replied to my post. TFP

Very technical work typical German vehicles.

The stearing was bad on the CVR(T) in the 1970´s, I often had to lift the front decks to straighten the steering arm whilst leaning over the 76mm barrel for leverage. Light sometimes means weak and bendable. Is there any tank in the entire world that is ``Squaddieproof? The Jagdpanzer certainly took out most Russian Armour without having a turret to travese so the steering was well overused for sighting as well as driving the right way. Some fantastic looking vehicles though.

I assume most of the parts would come from Eastern Europe as many Battlefields were not cleared until the fall of the Soviet Union and many German Tanks were actually builr in Checkoslovakia etc. Like lots of nazi medals and badges that are still being made on the original dies and being sold as original for stupid eyewatering prices. But no sympathy to those who want to pay for that sort of history.

What exactly was wrong with the Jagd Panther steering, when the Tiger steering has a small steering wheel and was easily driven. It doesn’t make sense.

Isn't FT the incorrect name for the Renault tanks from WW1?
@CGM_68
@CGM_68 Жыл бұрын
The prototype was at first referred to as the automitrailleuse à chenilles Renault FT modèle 1917. Once orders for the vehicle had been secured it was the practice at Renault to refer to it as the "FT". The name is derived from the two-letter production code.
@HerbertAckermans
@HerbertAckermans Жыл бұрын
@@CGM_68 On the official Renault issued manual for the vehicle, it is referred to as Char D'Asssaut 18 HP which is the closest to any kind of official designation for this vehicle.

@CGM_68 Жыл бұрын
@@HerbertAckermans If the French found it expedient to call it the Renault FT during its WWI service life, that's good enough for me. To quote a rant on the French forums "la désignation officielle française de "FT" tout court qui correspond à la désignation du modèle par l'établissement constructeur Renault et vous ne trouverez JAMAIS une autre appellation dans les documents français des années 1917-1945."
