For total equity diversification, maybe just consider VT. A total world stock market ETF including US and international.

I've recently reallocated into about 40% non-U.S. as Benz recommends, here.Yes..they yield somewhat better..but the non-U.S. chart is absolutely AWFUL looking, compared to U.S, for nearly 15yrs! Maybe non-U.S. is one of those "so BAD, they're GOOD"; situations?? I guess time will tell..but I'm already having SERIOUS "reallocator's remorse"!

The U.S. companies have such a reach into the rest of the world that if we go down then they collapse also, at least for several years. So I don't keep much at all with international and have sold all my vxus off.

Benz did NOT make a percentage allocation recommendation for non-US funds. She merely suggested some funds that could be used if you wanted to allocation a portion of investments to international securities. The suggestions I have heard from others have been along the line of 5 or 10%.of one's stock portfolio.
