I was on a respirator for 9 1/2 months from severe GBS. Weining off of it was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Took over 2 months and twice I made it off and had set backs and ended up back on. Without the support of my children and my wonderful respiratory therapists, all the patience and encouragement, I would never have succeeded. The Dr.s had given up on me. Respiratory Therapists are worth their weight in gold!!!

By doing the job of the diaphragm, does the ventilator cause atrophy of the diaphragm muscle? If so, would it be safe to say, a weakened diaphragm combined with excessive abdominal fat, can cause weaning failure/death?? Asking for a friend #kovidhustle

I thought everyone knew by now that ventilators are blowing out peoples lungs. How could u miss that? It’s all around the Internet. And are u the guy who narrates that horror stories channel? I think u are. 😳 I’m unsubscribing.

You fell into the misinformation trap my friend. That is very rare, and it’s done from people that don’t know what the fuck they’re doing for vent settings. It’s human error, not machine error.
