Wicked I grew up listening to this tune in the West Midlands. Shame this band never made it big. Huge amount of talent!! I really miss them.

I'll be playing this track when I do my guest spot on my community radio stations reggae show next week. Love the song and Misty Rhodes. The things songs remind you of. I remember DLT plugging this to death at the time, and Noel Edmonds of all people doing the same for Steel Pulse and Don't Give In. Both for Radio 1. Bizzare but true!

I loved WOP - saw them live about 7 or 8 times. I have recorded on VHS somewhere the concert they did in Hitchin, Herts, that was filmed for BBC2! What a cool band, and this was my favourite song.

It was the first time I'd heard of the band when watching the bbc 2. Taped it myself. Then got the 12in of if days later. Really good band.

Question for you? I bought the Weapon of peace album with the gold and black cover many many Years ago on a visit to birmingham (probably near 30 years ago). Its an album i absolutely love, and still have to this day. The problem i have is that i have never heard of another album from then since. Do you know, or have a list, if any, of any other albums that Weapon of peace brought out? If you could provide a link/list or something, i would really appreciate it. Ive searched high and low, but information on them is at a minimum. Cheers.

Agree with you about their first album, one of my all time favourites. They released a follow up album in 1983 called Rainbow Rhythm, a bit more synth pop orientated but worth a listen never the less. It is available on i-Tunes. Here's a link to their output (Hope it works!) www.discogs.com/artist/385166-Weapon-Of-Peace

Just remembered, they re-emerged a few years ago, set up a Facebook page and put up a web site and did a gig somewhere in the Midlands ( some bits are on You Tube). There seemed to be talk of a new album etc., but they have gone quiet again.www.weaponofpeaceonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=57

OMG. I heard this track at the tender age of 14 in a place called Bridlington when Weapon of Peace played at the conference rooms for Labour Party Young Socialists. It was so memorable. I remember meeting the band. I'm sorry guys I was the young girl who was sick on the way to the party. Does anyone remember? have never forgotten!!! YOU SOUND TERRIFIC, now as you did then. E X

Hm... Where are these guys from? I had never heard of them. Good stuff.,
@akikintheteeth4 жыл бұрын
They hailed from Wolverhampton. My 12" copy says on the label (Fontana) that both sides (Misty Rhodes) were produced by Bob Lamb. but I've come across copies on the same label and catalogue number saying produced by Dennis Bovell. Bob Lamb was UB 40's earlier records producer, the Graduate label material.
