Thank you so much for this. My thumb is much stronger than my index finger and honestly this is a game changer. I mapped the jump button to ZR because I go for jump shots a lot, and having it on another face button presented a problem. But after a few matches this is MUCH preferred. I really appreciate you!

I'm so glad you pointed out how damaging to your hands weapons like Squeezer and brushes can be. RSIs are no joke, y'all, take care of yourself. I know it would be messy if Nintendo let you hold instead of mash, but I also REALLY wish Nintendo would consider more accessibility options (both in controls and game design.)

It's a pity how it doesn't work out, because having something a player needs to physically work to get better at, something that's a hidden nerf to the weapon in that it makes it harder to control, is cool on paper, right up to the point where some people simply won't be able to access that playstyle.

The obvious solution would be a separate button toggle between firing modes, then just full auto fire in both modes, but... it feels like the physical barrier is the main thing holding the main weapon back from being just a straight upgrade to many others. That combination of range and kill time, without having to mash for max DPS while keeping your aim steady? Scary stuff.

Dude, I gotta say, as a returning player (played the first game a bunch, had a thousand hours on 2 and triple X rank with an S+9 on clams but fell off the game in late 2018-early 2019) your videos have been super helpful to get me back to shape and be even better in 3 than I ever was. The L3 is a painting monster. If you get your tap rhythm right (90% of the people I see use it, don't get the rhythm right) the second set of shots comes out almost instantly after the first. In the training room with no special up, I can get a crab tank in under 4 seconds. In a match, I can get crab easily before I reach mid. I just wish it had a real bomb

L-3's quickly become one of my favorite secondaries in splat 3 and i really regret not getting into any of its variants in earlier games a crucial part of the nozzlenoses that i see people struggling with is the rhythm. the difference in DPS that optimizing your muscle memory grants you is genuinely insane personally i like to think of oshama scramble! (uncut edition) [~190BPM] when timing my taps, at full tempo for L-3 and half-time for H-3.

L3 has been one of my favorite weapons, especially since the launch of splatoon 3 since majority of people don’t realize how good it is and don’t know how to go up against it. Here’s a tip from one L3 player to another, WEAR RUN SPEED, wear a main and 2 subs of run speed and you move like a splatling even when firing, try it out man 🫡🤫

I had a hell of a time learning brush in splat1 but my hands are completely used to it now and everytime someone sees a clip I share and ask to use a brush I have to stress it's not something everyone can play...

IMO the L-3 is a great learning weapon right now. It's fully accurate and mobile, and the Crab Tank is one of the highest learning curve specials in the game. Even when you're playing against less skilled opponents, you'll learn something every game with the L-3.

with L-3 if you throw a curling into someone the bump damage is enough to combo with a burst, before an engagement you can charge one with that in mind to either make them move, get splatted (unlikely), or get into combo range, and up close sending one out and then tapping the fire button is effective, even if a little ink hungry.

Worth being aware that the Squeezer's tap fire is significantly less ink-efficient per shot than the auto mode. After you've thrown a wall, you really don't have many tap shots left in the tank - it might be better to stick with full auto in such a situation, depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

I've been maining the Squeuer for S3 and it can be an absolute menace against charger weapons due to the range! I'm one of the lucky ones that can mash buttons for hours upon hours and not get hand strain. Great video as always, I learnt a few things!

I wish that there was a way to fix Squeezer and Inkbrush's mashing problem, but it feels like a Bad Design In The First Instance as far as accessibility is concerned. I really like both weapons, though, so I might get a 3rd party controller with macros set to mash fire

The 8Bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth is quite good for that in my experience, gyro works great on it, but you should set the rumble to 1 or 0, because the default 5 shakes the controller too much and messes with the gyro. But otherwise it's really saved my trigger finger.

I really like L-3 as a main in this game. Good strafe, good paint, and IA gives it no Jump RNG. Too bad the Curling Bomb kills it.

Squeezer and brushes are the main weapons that make me feel like auto-fire/turbo features of controllers is highly warranted. There are numerous officially licensed controllers with auto-fire/turbo features, so it feels weird to me that so many people try to gate-keep the game by treating it as a cheating mechanism rather than an officially licensed accessibility feature. If we're going to be OK with the idea that "you should get a Pro Controller because it's better than JoyCons" then what's the difference between that and "you should get this officially licensed 3rd party controller because it's better than JoyCons and has turbo."

With the squeezer, if you get in a close quarters fight with someone, would you recommend trying to get two tap shots, then holding the trigger? The damage means it would still be a 3 shot, but it takes more awareness to know when to switch firing modes

It's a tricky thing to try and time. If you get falloff damage or miss you might end up not splatting with the last shot. I'd just keep tapping

If the wiki is to be believed then the fire delay when shifting from semi to full auto is actually longer than just tap firing Doing what you described is only a damage gain if you somehow know you're going to hit your first two shots but miss your third

Yeah, it's a weird group to categorize. Generally, I would call them burst fire rather than "semi-auto". IRL semi-auto refers to a weapons ability to fire shots in succession without needing to manually cock the hammer ie: you pull the trigger and the next shot is ready to fire as soon as you release the trigger. None of these weapons work like that. The ones with a short burst are simply "burst fire" weapons. You pull the trigger and get a small multi shot burst. The squeezer is the only weapon that could closely be categorized as "semi-auto". It gains a range and accuracy boost for single taps of the trigger, but switches to full auto when you hold the trigger.

Yeah I main L3 and have nerve injuries from work on my right index finger so I do use turbo. The max fire rate is capped so you can't fire faster, you just don't have to mash.

Comming from someone who’s been playing L-3 since launch, the weapons is great! Curling bomb is great for movement and distraction while crab tank is self explanatory, paints extremely well and also has great mobility while being able to outrange a suprising ammount of weapons. For gear, I would use 1 main of intensify or 2 subs instead, ninja squid will help of course, and finally WEAR RUN SPEED! Stack some on this baby and you move like a splatling 🤫

I actually like splash wall on squeezer for the fact that you can challenge chargers with it. I love to shark and creep up on them and just chuck a splash wall out, guarantees that I dont die to them even if they have charge.

regarding input accessibility what if there was like a 4 shot rapid fast squeezer or a 3 shot slower and long range squeezer that would fire 3 bullet rapid fire for one tap of the shooting button and they could balance it by making the 3 shot slower and longer range with a bit more rng and the short range squeezer would always have to hit 2 of its 3 bullet spread to get a 4 shot ko between two fires and they could make inkbrush more accessible in the same way by making a brush with a way slower swing speed and higher attack power but balance the technically longer splat time with a much wider ink spread and then balance it back with a wider but slower brush-run mode

Idk what the consensus is but the Nozzlenoses would be infinitely better and infinitely easier main weapons to use if you could hold down the button and the bursts would keep going after the firing delay ends. More consistent DPS and fighting ability, along with letting you focus fully on aim over the reflex of pressing the trigger every time

I'm so used to tap firing now since I mained the L-3 in Splat 1 and the L-3 and Squeezer in Splats 2 and sort of 3 (dropped the L-3 for a variety of different weapons). So I just sort of found a rhythm that worked and I don't even think about doing it now, it just happens. As for the L-3, man did they kneecap it in this game. In Splat 1 it was a monster: it could kill, it could paint, it was fast, it had range, it had mobility, it had great efficiency, it had the Disruptor and Killer Wail which was a great kit, it goes on. Now it just feels sluggish and outclassed, and the kit doesn't help. Yeah, as stated, Crab is good and it can get it pretty fast, but not having a way to poke things above you and being mobile enough that you don't need the Curling Bomb is just kind of silly. I hope it gets something better than Inkjet in the next kit but does get some kind of poking bomb, perhaps an Autobomb or Torpedo.

@@leftovernoise The Squeezer is in a similar boat. If you have a fast rhythm, you can really box out shorter range weapons with the single-shot mode even if they are much better at closing the distance than you. You can also overwhelm chargers or Hydras if they aren't paying attention to you.

Hopefully the L-3 Nozzlenose D gets either Burst Bomb or Angle Shooter as they'd combo well with the main weapon, probably Burst Bomb as it's had Burst Bomb in both Splatoon 1 and 2, in fact because Inkjet is still in Splatoon 3 they could literally copy the Splatoon 2 L-3 Nozzlenose D kit completely (I hope they don't though because Inkjet isn't that good right now) As for H-3 Splashwall has always paired well with it mainly with the Cherry H-3 and Big Bubbler could be good too

What you're suggesting is that stairs should be changed so wheelchair-bound people can climb them. What I'm suggesting is that elevators exist already so there is no need to change the stairs. Anyway, stairs are a bad example (and you know it) - everyday life necessities are not a weapon in a video game. If you can't tackle but still want to play football, play flag football. If you can't use Squeezer but still want to play Splatoon, pick up a Splattershot. I don't accept your false apology.
