thank you so much for "going back to basics", I found it particularly useful understanding how to work out which DPI to use for what yarn and how to measure it.

Every time I watch your videos I learn so much. The more vocabulary you cover the more doors to weaving you open for me. I feel like you’re really listening to your audience. I know I’m brand new to weaving, but even at 66 I have a huge passion for it. I’ve wanted to weave of a child, but my mother didn’t think I needed to learn to weave. I crochet, sew, embroider, paint, make cards, recycle or up-cycle cigar boxes and Altoid boxes, but I’ve ALWAYS wanted to weave. I’ve finally begun on a Schacht 10” rigid heddle loom, but I also have a used 20” Schacht rigid heddle loom coming. I’m so excited I feel like I have a suppressed squeal just laying hidden about to sneak out! I watch and rewatch your old videos. I’m so excited at the thought of taking my handwoven fabric and making them into garments. I’m looking forward to when you get the plus sized patterns finished. I wear a 1X, but my bust is really more of a 2x because I don’t like tight fitting clothing. Just three more days before my bigger loom arrives. Can’t wait to make my first warp on it, and weave! You’ve been a huge help and inspiration. Thank you.

I, too, have been a lifelong fiber artist, i remember learning to knit at about 5yrs old making pot holders out of moms leftover yarn. Later, i learned to spin, then i started a flock of shetlands and angora goats and german angora rabbits. I joined a guild and began learning from all the old ladies AND men about weaving, which i swore i'd never do😅. Years later, i wound up with 4 giant looms and all the misc tools and had to create a new room for it all in the barn. One thing i never learned was the rigid heddle. It's different from multi shafts, so much easier to dress & weave on, and it makes lovely fabric. Which is why I'm a fan of your channel. I have 4 lovely natural fleeces i want to spin up and then weave cloth (on the RH) for a coat as the winters here can be quite frigid. With all my experience, i still have gaps in my knowledge, and your tip today on wrapping yarn twice to determine the mm size needle to use is one I've never heard before! Please keep sharing your knowledge!! It helps us all no matter how knowledgable your audience is!❤

That's great to hear, I often find that the smallest tips are the most useful. Happy weaving!

Thank you so much Sarah, for sharing your knowledge with all of us newbies :) I can now understand wraps per inch. :)

I find this the most reliable way of calculating the sett, regardless of what yarn I'm using. Some of it is very old, no label, but perfect for a project.

I really look forward to my Sunday morning (lol) 'ritual' of watching a different one of your videos. I appreciate This one because it's a great refresher for me. It opened up new ideas for projects as well. Thank you for doing these❣️

I don’t own a loom but I have started watching because I am so intrigued. I am learning a new vocabulary and someday I might buy a loom.

@Creative-Chaos there are lots of different ones, it's good to try one first if possible before buying one.

What a fabulous episode! Thank you for reviewing the basics of the loom and preparing to weave. I had never seen the demonstration of calculating WPI for dissimilar size yarn. Probably four years ago. I wove a length of fabric to sew myself a vest with one of your patterns and never did it, but you have gotten me one step closer!

That's good to hear, I'm trying to take the mystery out and make steps as clear as I can.

Thank you for this! You answer so many questions that I have had for many years. It is so important to know the relationship between warp/weft and wpi - how they interact. It is going to make a big difference in my weaving.

Thanks, that's good to hear. Sometimes it's the smallest tips that make the biggest difference, I've seen so many pieces of weaving "fail" because the sett was wrong.

Sarah--this was genius! I've been knitting and weaving for a while, but you just taught me a few things I didn't know that will really help me achieve my goals. Thank you!

Thank you Sarah, your explanation of how to work out what size heddle to use with which yarn is so helpful. I've read several books but just couldn't 'get it' before now!

That's why I did this, it's very familiar for me but when you're just starting out it's all a bit of a mystery! Thanks for commenting 🙂

Thanks. Really found this interesting and helpful, ‘tho I’ve been weaving a few years, I’m far from experienced. I’ve a little RH knitters loom & just upgraded from a Ashford 8 shaft table to a baby wolf.

Oh, enjoy your baby wolf, a lovely loom. I use my rigid heddle looms and my floor looms, I wouldn't part with any of them, my Dryad floor loom is about as old as me!

I'll be doing a video about mixing different yarns in the warp, sometime in the future. Glad you're finding something useful 👍
