Dude, to be honest, your stuff on bandcamp isnt my taste, but, your gear review videos are amongst my most favorite by far. There is never a dull moment, im not listening to you slowly explain some basic bullshit for 25 min before playing a few notes. You talk and jam and its the best format and I thank you very much for that, keep it up!

Agreed, I’m not naturally drawn to his musical style, but his passion is infectious and I actually appreciate the virtues of the style more because of that.

Yep but difference is, he already knows how to produce a lot of stuff due to his past in the music industry, but it lead him where he's now, in the world of textures/bangin beats/crunshiness that fits him perfectly

I was stoked when I saw the Peak show up on your rack, and have been looking forward to this video. The first synth you've covered that I'm well familiar with. Was super curious to see what you'd get out of it. I knew it wasn't going to be like the hundred+ overviews that show how it can do ambient pads. Did not disappoint.

I’ve been thinking of the right synth for me at this price point and honestly if it doesn’t get nasty I would have wasted my money. I really need an SH 101 but I might just to skip it, this one is really impressive. It is going at the top of my list thank you Joey!
@compucorder648 ай бұрын
Maybe a second-hand Peak, and a second-hand Erica Bassline might scratch both itches. I do love my Peak. Here, it's Moog Grandmother on mono duties. But there's some other great modern monosynths around too, Erica Bassline, PWM Malevolent & Dreadboxes spring to mind. Or if you've got a Eurorack and a little space, the Doepfer Voice Module is in the SH-101 style and really affordable.
@compucorder648 ай бұрын
It's a workhorse. Apart from modular, if I had to pare back my studio to only one of my hardware synths, Peak would probably be it, because it's very versatile and just sounds big and solid. Others, like Sequential Prophet & Digitone can cover a lot of ground; but can't cover the majority. Haven't tried one, but I'd imagine an Iridium would be another workhorse-type jack-of-all trades synth. The Peak is even so good for filthy acidic monosynth stuff, plenty of times I have it doing just that - and that has me sometimes wishing I had a Summit so I could do the mono and poly voices both at the same time - plus the layering. But, I love the Peak's size.

Any thoughts on Peak vs. Hydrasynth? I have a Hydra 49 and love it, though sometimes I do feel like there is a lack of character and I wonder if Peak/Summit would be a better choice.

@el_dani7 ай бұрын
Would have bought a Summit if they put the 3rd envelope on the panel. Peak is almost perfect for desk or rack and tweakability.
@activelow92977 ай бұрын
@@el_dani You can access all 3 envelopes from the front panel on the Summit.
@el_dani7 ай бұрын
As you can on the Peak, but there is only a set of 2 faders. Would have loved to see all 3 on the Summit panel
@activelow92977 ай бұрын
@@el_dani How often do you need to ride both the filter envelope faders and envelope 2 at the same time while playing? Just press the 1/2 button and set the envelopes as you need them. Be happy that you have separate amp envelope faders and 1/2 faders. On the Hydrasynth you have to hit a button to go into a menu for each of the 5 envelopes no matter what!
@el_dani7 ай бұрын
@@activelow9297 It depends how the 3rd envelope is implied in the actual patch. Sometimes you like to do very small adjustments (wavetable index or volume of 3rd oscillator) so it‘s hard to adjust when the faders don‘t align. Don‘t get me wrong: These are some of the best synthesizers to buy, I love my Peak. The missing 3rd set on the panel is my only wish for the Summit version.
