My husband brought 4 kids into our marriage from his previous relationship. Two of them are twins. When I went for my ultrasound they took ages until they said „everything is fine! I can actually see two babies“. And my husband jumped up, put his hands over his head and yelled „no…no…omg!! Omg!!“ 😂 and I layed there and tbh my first thought was „please wake me up out of this nightmare, why me“. Because all my life I was scared to have twins haha. But now we have them its just such a blessing. Hard work, but a blessing 🩷

😂😂😂 there were covid protocols when I was in my ultrasound so my husband had our son in the car when I found out and I literally started cackling and went "we are so fucked." Because we hadn't planned on more. We were DONE DONE. This was unplanned and tbh we weren't happy to be pregnant. Then after a day or 2 we got really excited. The twin magic hit. Unfortunately we lost twin A at 4 days old after emergency delivery at 24+2. Twin b is happy and thriving though! 😊

When I was 39 I got pregnant with what I thought was my seventh child. At 9 weeks I told my husband that I suspected that I was having twins because I was feeling "fuller" than I felt during my previous pregnancies. He told me that I was nutshell. Later that day I told my family doctor the same thing and he looked at me like I was nuts. Because of my age and two previous miscarriages I had an appointment that day with a OB. I received the same look from him then went in for my ultrasound. I'll never forget the technician's voice when she yelled out "There's two! There's two!" I always say that I hit the baby jackpot. You folks really hit it! Congratulations! 🎉

I told my family and husband the day after taking a test that it was boy girl twins after having the most vivid dream of them. I knew it so deep down, they laughed because cause we dont have twins on my side. Sure enough, we not only had twins but had boy/girl twins. We named them their names from my dream, and look exactly as the babies I held in that dream. Crazy enough, around 6 months pregnant I had another vivid dream of my daughter passing shortly after being born. I thought it was my birth so when they came healthy I thought we were in the clear. Nope, at 8 weeks I rushed my daughter to the hospital because she was sick and although they claimed her O2 sat level would come up with breathing treatment, they weren’t. I was a paramedic, and knew something was seriously wrong. 3rd trip when they again tried sending us home I threatened to handcuff myself to the bed if they didn’t get the picu doctor down to the ER. My daughter crashed an hour later, she had a collapsed lungs and a massive tumor crushing her trachea. Had I left she would’ve died. That dream pushed me to not take no for an answer. She’s now 1 of 11 cases in the US to have that type of BENIGN tumor where it was. I will never forget the doctors telling us it could only be a neuro blastoma and after many failed attempts at putting a pic line in to start treatment BEFORE the biopsy results came back I made them stop and wait. When I tell you our room was packed full of doctors crying with us, I mean it. I’m so thankful everyday she made it and is a happy healthy 11 year old. Moms trust your instincts!!!

When I had my 2 children in the early 1970s, Ultrasound Scans were not available to NHS patients in the UK. I had to go 9 months wondering if I would have a girl or a boy. When my mum was pregnant with me in ‘69, she would have loved a scan too, she’d had my 4 brothers, and was hoping I’d be a girl, and when I was delivered, the midwife played a trick on her and wrapped me in a blue blanket. My mum said groggily, “i thought you said I’d had a girl, well I love him regardless” then she peeled back the blanket and…hello it’s a girl! 😂😂 she cried. She was my best friend, my confidant and I miss her so much.

It’s it so crazy how technology has changed the world especially with pregnancy. It’s so crazy to hear people’s stories. I can talk to my grandma about when she was pregnant with my tias and Tio (aunts and uncle) she said at the time they didn’t allow men in the hospital room when she delivering the babies and there so no ultrasounds she said the doctor would only hear the babies heart beat with like an earlier version of the stethoscope and that was it.

Myself and my identical twin were born in 1957. We arrived 2 months early. My mother nor the doctors were expecting twins. I was 4lb 4oz, my sister was 4lb. We did not get put in an incubator. Apparently we cried so loud we were put in the hospital airing cupboard to give everyone some peace .... not to mention the shock for my father when he came to see mother and baby! I had triplets it was so fun, but hard. At the time I didn't know any different. But once I had a singleton 5 years after the triplets the 4th was cake walk. I remember the best year was when the kids could dress themselves for school that was when life started getting easier. But teaching them to read were difficult years. 20 min with each child per day plus math ECT. I wanted to pull my hair out. 3rd grade was another breakthrough age. I cannot imagine 5 at once. I wish you all the best and patience.

5 potential SACS yes, but only 2 heartbeats - so it makes perfect sense she was holding back. That, and the chances of miscarriage with so many babies is massive - it wouldn't be professional to be over excited especially when the chances of taking 5 babies home is really really small 🫤

How did they know she was having multiples if this was her first scan at 5 weeks. I’m a midwife and the only way I can think of is if her hcg was super elevated. Which can indicate a multiple pregnancy. But 5 babies, wow! I really think fertility clinics need to be more conscious of the risks of multiples. Especially as high as 5 foetuses!!! It’s quite irresponsible to stimulate her ovaries as much as this.

Her hormone levels In her blood were extremely high, which is why they had an ultrasound this early to find out how many babies there were. In a normal pregnancy with one baby the hormone levels at 1 week are at around 200....hers were 6,300 at a week so they knew it was a multiple pregnancy.

It's just the generic measurements at the time of the ultrasound. The "gestational age" or "due date" changes all the time as baby grows, but usually evens out by the end of the pregnancy. Just like how your weight will be different in the morning vs after lunch vs end of the day. Basically, one baby's sac is slightly larger than the other baby's sac. They were still conceived at the same time
