Divorce is always traumatic for the kid no matter how well you handle it. Might not be for the parents but surely for the kid. You might be the most zen couple, you end up traumatising your kid when you divorce. Degree may vary but it happens for sure.

Death of one parents is something that small kids get over, divorce has long term trauma some never recover from. I have 2 friends who are in therapy even 3 decades after their parents' separation. Both still blame themselves.
