I think in a western situation (particularly outside the Muslim 'ghetto' areas like east London, Dewsbury etc) it might be better not to wear (all) black if you wear niqaab. But it actually is the Sunnah.

Ive been wearing niqab for almost 20 yrs Alhamdulillah. Im from Melbourne. I wear the niqab piece thats attached with elastic. You put it on first, then put your hijab on. Its breathable and easy to wear. I wear different color hijabs too. As for drinking coffee at the cafe, I always order in a takeaway cup and use a straw to drink. No problem. As for my water bottle I put a straw in it. Sister it comes with experience and I enjoy wearing it for the sake of Allah. As for public transport I catch the train and bus mainly to the city. No problems. Alhamdulillah theres sisters here who also wear it. As for travelling on the aeroplane I always get a window seat so its easier to eat. Eating in public places I order dry food not soups or spaghetti. It gets too messy. Hopes this helps to answer your questions.

Agreed. You can wear any pristine colours for your niqqab, complimenting your daily attires, i.e. long sleeved blouse, gown, long skirt, palezzo and many more. It is modest fashion for niqqabbis as well, aside for hijabbis and those free-haired muslims. Give them time because of many reasons, i.e. political siasah, up-bringing, you know. We practice our faith within our imaan capacity, insha Allah. As long as your attire is modest and decent. Wearing black is elegant and respective but again it depends on where you are at. We aren't in the Middle East region or Indian Sub-continents. We can choose any dark colours too, not just Black. If we're too extreme in our attires' choice, in Afghanistan, for example, who invaded them? Those who dislike fully-covered women in Burqas. The weirdest is, the Burqa colour is varied. Some into soft blue, purple hues and so forth. May be, the Burqa designs. Mind-baffling indeed, at least to me. They found it intimidating for some westerners. Let us be cautious and moderate. La vie est belle! ;) Let say, for us here in the borneo island without naming any states, we have to blend-in with majority Non-Muslims. So we choose our attires accordingly, with our choice of niqqabs' and hijjabs' styles. The Prophet S.A.W. was into moderate practising, so why we're "burdening" our Muslims? So our reverted friends, give time to your personal practice. So be you, becoming a better YOU in this big data age. Wear any preferable niqqabbi or hijabbi styles that you like. Choose those comfortable and fashionable attires that you can wear when performing your daily prayer. Mind our Dos: decent, modest, pleasant and moderate. Let's be ourselves, as Muslim people. Islam is universal. We can even befriend with non-muslims, i.e. Zimmis during war to those in war-ravaged countries, insha Allah. My direct imply, to those niqqabbis, hijjabbis and free-haired muslims worldwide. Stay cool and have gorgeous mind. ^_~"

You should try the shorter tie up niqab, it’s not attached to your scarf. that’s the one I wear and it’s pretty easy to eat with it.

i noticed that your niqab is like one with your hijab..mine are separate piece..i think that is y yours feel hot ..mine not really.. i used straw when drinking..and whn eating it's much easier using with one piece niqab because its kind of short only reach length of your breast..so you can lift it in a certain way..so eating is possible even though its kind to get messy some time..

Material is super Important. If you are getting hot in niqab you are most likely wearing bad material. Most makers of muslimah niqab are made more for aesthetic purposes with bad ventilative material rather than the person's wellbeing in mind. Cotton, bamboo fiber, hemp, muslin, are all better materials though you may have to make them yourself unfortunately (they also happen to be easy to dye both naturally and unnaturally so that's a plus if you want certain unobtainable colors). I'm a runner and have a very manually tasking job and get heat strokes very easily so safely wearing niqab was a must to figure out. I have to make all my niqabs out of proper material else I can't breathe easy and get panic attacks from lack of air and have even passed out at work from a niqab from Sunnah Style. (I love Sunnah Style but they are only good for light and casual activity and not long outings or under any physical exertion.)
