Have you tried adding a pressure regulator to prevent burst and keep it at max altitude longer? Are there any videos for this? Thanks,

I picked up 5x balloons for $5 each, Do you have setups for running budget sensors (maybe simply plugged into a crap tablet), and just using USB to plug in disposable sensors for atmospherics? I could see doing something like this, although there is some best practice question about if its ok to just let it land and leave it when it may have batteries on board etc. ..Or are you just running a cubesat style approach with maybe raspberry pi/arduino with the appropriate boards attached? I was also reading that flight time could top out at 14-21 days, but your video makes it look like the launch to landing happening mostly within a day. Are there tips/tricks to extending the flight duration of the balloon, even at high altitudes (say >75k ft)

Knowing that Japan used balloons to deliver bombs to the main land of north America during WW2. Now with all of the confusion about the balloon over north America and south America. Due you or would you mind sharing your thoughts on the motive and purposes for china sending these balloons over my house???? Could they be testing a EMP delivery system???? You have the knowledge and I am hoping to get your prospective on the matter.

do all weather balloons continue to rise until they pop, or is there a way to control elevation and just hangout
@david_akerman Жыл бұрын
Latex balloons generally pop, but can be persuaded to float by using a lot less gas. Plastic balloons however stop expanding and therefore stop ascending. These can be enclosed (superpressure) or open at the bottom (zero pressure).

I was always sad as a kid at the idea of balloons bursting once they got to a certain height... that’s crazy how fast the payload falls...then it slows to 10mph. I remember being so interested in learning about weather in high school...I might have missed my calling!
@StratoStarTV5 жыл бұрын
The crazy thing is it can also go horizontally 200mph in the jet stream!!! Its never to late to help the next generation get into weather :)

I love balloons and love giant soft balloons like weather balloons and it still makes me sad knowing they send the balloons of just to die. Wish they would come up with a different method.😢❤️🎈

Can you send up a model rocket and put up a cube sat in space? It seems that getting to 100,000 feet would get you a long way there. Thanks for teaching our young people.
@StratoStarTV2 жыл бұрын
You are correct that the rocket would not have to push through the thick part of the atmosphere and would be way more efficient at 100,000 ft. However, to get something to orbit we need a horizontal velocity of over 17,000 mph….we would need lots of fuel even to put a small satellite in orbit. There is most likely someone alive today who will figure this out…maybe it is you :)
@user-pl3lo8cc8y2 жыл бұрын
could you launch a balloon that would allow for 10x expansion, so that it would go higher?
@StratoStarTV2 жыл бұрын
Technically yes, but typically that means more material is needed which adds to the weight, so you need more Heluim. The ideal solution would be a very light balloon with lots of volume to expand….this is what NASA does :)

Hey can we launch a satellite there but if we want to keep it in earth's orbit?? Is it possible. Of possible then which fuel is required?
@StratoStarTV3 жыл бұрын
Would be awesome to launch a satellite into orbit from a balloon! But you need a bunch of fuel to get the rocket to orbital speed of 17,000 mph (27,000 kph). If you could keep the balloon from popping and float in the jet stream your satellite could float around the world....like google loon :)
