*_I'm Old School... real musicians played and real singers sang.._* I can still remember back in the 70's and 80's when we actually had real talent. Musicians played live and singers sang live on stage in front of many thousands of people. Many bands played just as good Live as they did in Studio. *_Real Bands don't use 'gimmicks' they use Real Talent..._*

@@nielsanderson4926 Niels you have a good point. In the late 1950’s and the whole of the 1970’s i went to small live-club gigs of visiting American jazz great. Also to several times to the NSJ in The Hague as well as the MJF in Switzerland. Now these festivals have become more - world music - with a small section of Jazz. Sad but true. To be honest. It was not. The arrangement was not good. The mixer was absolutly terrible and the guitar out of tune. At about 5:25 Cheryl Bentyne and Janis Siegel have to bring the band back into the tempo. Everybody can see this. But! At all it was a great festival and this song is Jazz-History.

Wayne did not do theatric dance gestures - he just played. His other band members danced and emoted. He stayed within himself. But it didn't detract from the music.

I love this, I love ManTran,. saw them in London 2018 at Pizza Express Jazz club (Holborn), but the presence of Zawinul just lifts this song to a new level, its his crazy simple changes and arrangements. And Wayne Shorter - the bigger the stage, the more uncomfortable he looks

Very interesting to see Victor Bailey play Jaco's solos and stuff. It's such a Jaco era song I've always wondered what it would sound like with him playing.
@christophermiller75322 жыл бұрын
He was there the year before. I was at the "meltdown" concert and to be honest, Jaco killed it. He got into beef with the band and they walked off. He then did a bass solo of Purple haze and I was blown away but he looped it, put the bass down and walked off stage. Weather Report never came back but Jaco decided to do a solo of Purple Haze for about a minute and a half until they turned the stage and Cosby introduced the next act. That solo from Jaco was amazing. I mean if it's around, it's some of the best bass solo work I've ever seen live.

Pay the gate, don't be late It's a date! - whattay' know If y' dig, then you'll dig, it's a groove Quite a groove, 'cause y' t' move Come in twos, pay your dues What can you lose? Just your blues! So lose them! The band swingin' one and all and what a ball! Yeah! Music is good, music is better than good Pretty good Very nice Really very good - things are bein' like they should Very good, very good, very good All y' gotta do is lend an ear An' listen to it Then y' dig a little sooner than soon You'll be diggin' everything diggin' all the music What a ball! How y' gonna figure out A way t' bring it all about amid a Lot o' other music on the set'n on The scene know what I mean? I cannot think of it right now, maybe someone will help me out with that. Anyway, I already knew that Josef Zawinul of Weather Report had written the song and the band recorded it. Thank goodness one the Manhattan Transfer group acknowledged that during a brief interview. I was about to say," HOLD ON...WHAT! You best own up!
