My setup was working on my laptop for awhile and then for whatever reason all the pictures I was getting were scrambled. They looked like the picture on an old TV when the horizontal hold was not in tune - the picture was pulled apart into jagged bands. Tried all sorts of things with no luck. Then someone on the Facebook APT Group suggested it looked like an audio distortion and suggested I not use VB Audio but the native soundcard. So I set HDSDR (my receiving software) to output to Windows Soundmapper and WXtoIMG's input to Windows Mixer. IT WORKED! In this setup, you can still hear the satellite on the speakers, and the volume control sets the signal strength input to WXtoIMG. I set it to 28% to get 55% volume on WXtoIMG when recording. So in case someone runs into this problem, worth a try.

I was struggling for a couple of days with the software and now i can solve this. Thanks. The only problem now is a couple of trees around my house when they are wet Atenuation... the signal isn't coming trough that good. thanks for your video.

Very thorough... Easy to follow setting up. When I opened radio control I couldn't select SDR#, but Gpredict was listed. SDR# is updating freq, so it looks like all is good. Now just waiting for a flyover!

really good set of instructions - whilst I a use windows for my main amateur radio and digital modes, i kept this to my mac, which your guidance i was able to use gqrx, gpredict and a decoder called noaa-apt (which whilst isnt currently feature rich as wxtoimg, is still being actively developed and works on 64 bit mode os-x). First attempts of decoding was abysmyl, but the plumbing is all in place to keep trying and get better ! thank you, a very exciting and interesting additon to the hobby.

Thank you for the video. Orbitron and sdrsharp plug-in does start sdr# when a satellite is above the horizon. Is it the case for gpredict and gpredict connector plug-in too. It looks to me that sdr# has to be left on. Is it so or I am missing something?

On the new versions of Gpredict, you have to create a folder inside of the plugin folder and name it something; then copy the dll file into that. It wont work, unless a folder is created inside of the plugins folder - very important. Nothing else to edit in notepad. Also wxtoimg can no longer update keplars unless wxtoproxy is installed, that has to be installed and configure it, then it will work. This is a good video, but it needs to be updated.

I think you hit every needed detail but one. Audio settings. I either get black screen, or snow screen. Baud rate? Bit rate? Where to make these adjustments? I do not know why your video came up so far down in my search but it should be the first one that pops up!

Based on what I saw in the video, there is a baud rate setting in the image decoder. As far as the audio, it can help to turn on the monitor option under recording devices in Windows so you're able to verify that VB Cable sounds like it should with proper volume, clarity, etc.

yes, every image has an satellite name and date/timestamp in the filename.

This is an old video so not sure if anyone will see this. I am just getting into SDRs and seen many of your videos. I have been playing with wxtoimg, VB audio cable and SDR console v3. I was hoping you may have a troubshooting tip. If I select vb audio cable and let the program handle tuning for NOAA 15, 18, 19 the decode in wxtoimg is very bad. Tearing and static accross horizontal lines in wxtoimg. If I select my PC speakers and then back to vb audio cable it works. So I know I can get clear images but only if I sit at my PC for every pass. Any tips? KK7JVV

Have you installed the GPredcit plugin on SDRSharp and enabled it?

Oooops there is a step which I did not include in the video! Sheeeet! In GPredict, goto preferences and then interfaces. Click Add New. Call it SDR Sharp, host is 127.0.0.1 and port is 4533, rig type RX Only. Save it and then you should be able to open the radio panel.

I still use orbitron. In fact it is dos software but works very well on Old computers.

Unlikely since gpredict requires your current coordinates and altitude to function. You could use an L-band antenna with GPS software. I think there is a video about it on this channel.

I had the same issue this evening while installing on a friends windows 10 machine. If you look on the website for the BETA version that worked for me and installed correctly. I think the original installer is crashing so try the beta version.

Did you ever solve this? Maybe try double-checking that the preferences in gpredict are entered correctly with that IP and port. Sorry, that's all I have without more info.
