I really find RadarScope app for the iPhone really nice. Has current NWS radar info - less than 2-3 minutes old. Like this video.

Asif Kidwai I got it about 2 months ago and it’s information is invaluable. I can’t kick myself enough for not getting it sooner.

Hey Ryan how you doing buddy. Great video. I myself keep it simple. When it snows I plow. When it is clear I drink. Easy peezy. I was thinking of getting some commercial accounts but here they just DON"T pay. Not worth the hassle to have a truck visit a lot every two hours during an event to keep it clean. I am really considering selling my truck and getting a tractor. So much better. Look forward to the next season Ryan. say hi to everyone there. all the best -John

Hey John, down here commercial work pays better than residential. I actually prefer commercial work over residential even on the invoicing side of things because they usually pay promptly.
@ThePlowGuys8 жыл бұрын
I get that. Here the liability insurance is super high. Customers want you there as soon as a snowflake hits the ground. They want seasonal contract. They want salt included in price. They want, they want, they want. All for the low price of 1700$ a season. LMAO I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole, but some one is and thats why the pricing here is so backwards. Residential is what pays. With a tractor and rear mounted forward facing blower I can clean 5 driveways to my one driveway done with the truck. Put a plow on that tractor and it becomes a monster. A pick up can't compete with a tractor for work like there is here. Stay warm and dry buddy. -John

I recant my earlier message. WSV3's LiveScan technology has a very good refresh rate of only a little less than 2.5 minutes! I am currently working w/Paul to do a comparison between KFOR and WSV3 and the NWS for the deadly 2013 Moore, OK tornado.
@FishFind30006 жыл бұрын
Ryan Robison yea you cant really get much faster then 2.5 min for refresh unless you do sails.

will you do a season 2 in 2017?
@SnowMenShow8 жыл бұрын
Season 2 was filmed in 2014. We are filming season 5 right now in 2017. I am very busy running my business so I do not have a lot of time to edit and upload KZbin videos. This is why we are still only in season 1 right now which was filmed in 2013. I do not know exact timing of when season 2 will be out. I still have a lot of good footage from season 1 to edit.

From the videos I have seen, it uses TV stations radar, not radar from the NWS. Don't get me wrong, the program has potential and I have been in contact with Paul. So I think he does welcome input from users.

Intellicast had an interactive future radar loop that ran present to 24 hrs out. That is now history since WU took Intellicast down. Anyone have a site/ map they could recommend that's similar? Thanks.

@@SnowMenShow Thanks. I found this one in the mean time. They don't seem to discern snow/ rain as far as image colorations. Wish they did being in N MN. Decent features and control options for goof like me.. www.iweathernet.com/interactive-radar

Do you guys ever get tired of talking about snow , have you plowed any snow this season I mean this in a good way but I know you would like to be plowing snow . Hope you get some soon . We have plowed 19 times sense Nov 21st , some are contract seasonal and rest by the plow . We have a lot of accounts that require plowing every 2 inches so we start plowing when it starts snowing and we stop when it stops not much time to watch weather channels . Think Snow .
@SnowMenShow8 жыл бұрын
We have been out 8 times this season on the commercial accounts. We are plowing constantly through storms as well. Weather tracking is very important in our business so we know what resources to have ready and how much man power we will need. Many of the larger companies in the Chiagoland area actually have a whole weather office with a team of people monitoring conditions at various locations. We are not that large so I just do it from the truck. It's called multitasking most small business owners are used to this and will know what I am talking about. And no I never get tired of talking about snow. I love the snow business, it's not just a job for me. Happy plowing. -Ryan

Weather Studio is a great program for Broadcasting weather. It has all the pretty features like custom 3d texts and alpha settings. Along with the NexGen Blue Marble display. It's great for displaying weather. But for real-time weather analyzing. The best of the best is SimuAwips. And Gr2Analyst.
