I know I know I know.... The real Defender has an aluminum body and will never rust. BUUUUT its the only body I had that I could do this with and in all honesty it looks freaking wicked cool. Not to mention this is sooo easy to do. So cut me some slack, its not always about reality and who says I can't make the real one "look" rusty as well. That would be sick no?

That's totally awesome! I actually created a little Rat Rod entirely out of sheet metal so I can use real rust, because I had no idea that I could do that with a plastic body. I wish I would have seen this video before that. 🤣

the aluminium dose corrode where it meets with the steel frame so you're not all wrong

Leave them, like you said it Adds depth. There is also now a spray paint that has metal particles that can be oxidized as well.

Thanks, generally you have to make them yourself. with a sander or a file. I use a sander and a magnet to capture the shavings.

So awsome! If you don't clear coat,will the rust come off? I Wanna do weathering on my tf2 but just on tiny spots where it's been rock rashed,& not on the whole body.

+Michael Lee Smith indeed i could have simply given you the answer. However that would not given you the approximate quantities needed for the mix. plus there is peroxide and salt so you might not have had a complete solution for the process. Savvy?

1430sl actually this body is white at its base colour. This one was painted a few times and then glass beaded which already gives it a sought look. If you have a fresh white body you can lightly dry brush it with grey or black in certain areas to give a more rugged look
