I use white filters all the time on my camouflaged planes. Usually i go for a pin wash in black or dark brown, some spot chipping and a white filter. However, after watching your video's, i use dark oil washes on bare metal planes nowdays.

Great work, after al the weathering and the use of dry pigments do you spray the model with a clear coat again?
@onurerdincler31077 жыл бұрын
do you make the scrathes just after airbrushing it? or do you wait for the paint to fully dry

Hello David, just wondering what kind of varnish do you use and how many layers do you apply before put enamel panel liner and washes.
@Percivalcl7 жыл бұрын
Just one more Question, at the end of this weathering are you going to apply a new coat of mate or satin varnish?

Great video , what Abteilung colors do you think are the most used on aircraft? there are a few sets but those dind match the color you use. Thanks again for your time teaching us!

Do you overcoat the paint with clear coat or Future before weathering?
@stephengilmore27414 жыл бұрын
I think the exhausts are sitting in the wrong position in this. The engine cowls should come down and fit like a jigsaw puzzle, but that wouldn't happen here. I did a similar model with the Brassin engine and you do need to be careful about where the exhausts line up. It looks wrong, but it isn't. Whereas this looks right, but is actually wrong.
@nopants42594 жыл бұрын
I love the thought that the Germans thought painting the nose and tail yellow would stop friendly fire but carried on with traditional camouflage for the rest of the plane.... strange logic. "how do i shoot german plane"? : "look for the yellow nose" lololololol

@peterzebot17955 жыл бұрын
Your technique is sound however you go overboard with the weathering of aircraft. Propellers don't chip paint. They were anodized blades and mostly aircraft never lose paint unless is was flying through a sand storm. Engine details are nice though.
@carlossaldesalvarez975 жыл бұрын
its a aircraft from the WW2 anodized process are from the mid or late 50´s. Historical photos shows often aircraft with incredible wear marks. the mechanical crew often fix the mechanical parts or replace damaged fuselage parts and just paint that parts and under the last years of the war for the German the was often lack of everything even flight worthy aircraft.

Weathering is brilliant! And great paint job, respect!
@topcat1tanks7 жыл бұрын
You're skill is fabulous. My question is would a fuel drop tank have weathering? Except for the storage and mounting, they would be lost after the first flight, wouldn't they?
@JTD198813697 жыл бұрын
david have you thought about doing a battle damaged WWII fighter.. maybe a strafe of bullet holes across the wing. with some slight panel damage. or maybe flak damage with a larger jagged hole and lots of chipping?.. i think you could pull it off quiet well
@alexanderabdullahi47687 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, awesome skills you showing my modelling made a quantum leap since watching your videos. I have two questions: after the oil wash do you coat with 100% matt varnish or do you use a ratio of matt and gloss. Which psi do you use for German ww2 aircraft Moetels like this 109 or your Me262? Thanks

The finished effect it stunning, Am looking forward to trying these techniques on a larger scale I.E. Electric RC size. Could you please tell me the title of the music being played during the painting of the fuel tank please???
@Violator6967 жыл бұрын
After you familiarized yourself with the models of airplane workshops, I decided to try my hand at it. These are not vehicles that I have been doing for a few years and the first model of the aircraft has many mistakes but making it gives me a lot of fun and satisfaction.

Your work is truly incredible I love watching your videos I learn so much. I have a question, you apply your flat coat after decals apply your pigments and washes do you clear coat again once finished?
@GeorgeBuftea7 жыл бұрын
when you added the oil leaking from the fuel tank you could have usdd a thiner single drop of paint and spray it with air using empty airbrush. that way th oil would have had more realism. same technique can be used with pigment or oil paint for the shadings of the exhaust pipes over the fuselage.
@BrothaJeff6 жыл бұрын
Wow... That is absolutely beautiful. Do you prefer enamel paints or acrylic?

hi pal, how come the toothpick isn't taking the silver paint off Too? or are you just being gentle? thanks, stu
@rurushu80947 жыл бұрын
Stuart Taylor I believe that the silver is a greasy lacquer paint so the top layer cannot stick to it very well, this makes it easy to remove. Since the silver paint is lacquer it is very strong an won't easily come off.
@stuarttaylor35677 жыл бұрын

I bought a tiny 1:72 revell panther for my first ever build, and I was wondering what type of paints should I use( I would use revell aqua) ?
@idaemonplasmo7 жыл бұрын
revell aqua are very good paints. I recommend using thinner. Aqua Colour Mix Thinner. Water is not bad but with this thinner are perfect.
