9-10 week German shepherd pup, I’m getting exasperated! His biting is increasing, not decreasing. I can barely get the leash on and off, my arms are getting torn up. I visited a neighbor w two large dogs and had a play date, hoping he’d (start to) get socialized better, but this didn’t help at all, if anything, he seems to be biting harder. I’ve tried saying no, I’ve tried totally ignoring it, I’ve tried yelping like a puppy, I’ve tried time out in the crate (but only once, I don’t want to associate the crate, or really kennel (largest wire one, very spacious) with punishment.) He’s fine if I use treats or food to train, knows sit and follows hand for down, allows the occasional pet or belly rub, and we are signed up for star puppy class in a few days, I’m just looking for any thoughts or help..I thought a puppy would be remotely affectionate..but not this one. I can’t see how I’ll ever get to advanced training if I’ve screwed up our relationship somehow. I’ve busted my..keister for this boy, he came from a litter of 11, I slept next to the kennel for 3 nights, gave him a heartbeat puppy also for company. He had worms and coccidiosis from the breeder, I’ve enhanced the breeder kibble with 90% lean hamburger from Whole Foods, his meds are complete today, his weight gain in last two weeks since vet has been spectacular. I love this guy, but he’s really frustrating to figure out..I had to leave him alone quite a while yesterday as I was buying a new car, but I’m disabled and spend 24/7 with him. If this isn’t appropriate for here, I won’t expect a reply..
