Good to see Bitwig back with some cool stuff and upping focus on workflow improvements. The new iZotope plugins look interesting as well. Nothing wrong with simplifying chains and setup. Will give it a shot.

I have a pretty long delay chain on vocal tracks so I can dip the wet signal when the dry signal is present and have them run after a certain ms depending on my reverb chain.
@Arcessitor3 күн бұрын
The unmasked delay makes more sense than the reverb, for sure. The reverb is so sparse in options and if it has the wrong sound for your source you're just kinda screwed. The delay is just a filtered repeat of the original, no reason why not to just have the chain in one plugin I suppose.
@SenseiKreese3 күн бұрын
On Cascadia, well, you've gotta setup up an effect mixer channel, then you've gotta side chain shit into it, and fk about with the side chain to get the delay you want... I mean, if this thing can do all that for me, well. Anything making things simpler and quicker is good to me.

not for unmasking but i do use long plugin chains for my delays TBH. I use feedback loops in reaper to layer up a series of Airwindows and other plugins to get some wild sounds, like combinations of tape simulation and granular/spectral effects, weird Airwindows EQs, etc.

I don’t understand all this wave of negativity around plugins, and some even write that they outright hate certain companies. If you don’t like a product, why use it? Just install one that suits you. It’s that simple. Everyone determines for themselves what works best for their workflow. In different situations, a specific product might yield different results - sometimes positive, sometimes not.

They are automatically blacklisted and on my embargo list of companies whose plugins I will never use.

New ideas for delays: Take a delay signal, and it creates the original sound. A delay that shuts off automatically when ai says your mix is too busy. A delay that gives your sound delay today, and then you can add the plugin tomorrow. Delay away.

iZotope Sucks! - 8% CPU (Cubase Pro 14 on a Macbook M2 Pro) - over 20ms latency I always run the same tests. Insert as many plugins in SERIAL until you either maxed out your insert slots OR your audio starts to drop out. I run the tests at 2048 samples buffer size and ASIO guard max (Cubase Pro 14).I can only load 12 plugins until my cpu breaks. My highest quality analog modelled delay I use is from Moog and takes less than that. Same with Aurora! - 10% CPU - for a single reverb → unacceptable ! My best reverbs (Seventh Heaven Pro, Cinematic Rooms Pro, Relab Lexikon 480 all take between 2% and 3% !!!! There is the side chain ducking, fair. But I have set up my template so that all FX returns are routed into an FX Aux where I can put Soothe or Trackspacer or SmartComp on it → WAY less CPU and more effective.
