Chuck, I’ve got two masters degrees and had lots of professional training. My point is I’ve had an awful lot of instructors for various things. You are one of the finest teachers I’ve ever learned from. You’re enthusiasm and knowledge are fantastic. Thanks for what you do.

Great video and pattern for the Gun belt. Two years ago I made 6 pairs of Cartucheras (I called them Bandoliers) for Christmas gifts in 2023. My tip is to use one thread to stitch the bullet strap to the belt resulting in only one square knot to be tied. Then I used the anvil from the snap & rivet set placed on edge to hammer the stitching and knot flat before gluing the suede back on. To burnish the inside edge of the oblong I used a piece of leather lace and ran it back and forth through the slot as if I were shinning a shoe. Looking forward to the next video in this series. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome, since gaining weight over the past few years, I'll need a new one of these. I can hardly wait for the holster video.

Awesome timing Chuck. I watch all the time and love your videos. You've taught me a lot and it's really appreciated. About two weeks ago I started thinking about a gun belt rig for my cowboy guns. I was very excited to see this video post and can't wait for pt.#2. Thank you so much...👍

I love that Chuck leaves the little mistakes in the cut and that even the Master Craftsmen can make mistakes as well.

Thanks Chuck! I believe the digital pics of the billets have the buckle end of the strap and the keeper mis-labeled as far as the width of each billet is concerned.

Chuck you brought up something I've never heard you say in any other belt video and it hit me like why didn't I think of that?! I have had my belts come up almost too small for a while now and have been using your 9in method....but I always add a backing layer to my belts and never thought about how much length adding that layer takes off the belt.....I really feel stupid now for not thinking about that. Thank you so much, you just saved me a lot of frustration, I have wondered why and can't believe the answer was right in front of me the whole time.

This is also a good base for folk doing Ren Faire/LARP/etc, as this is very similar to the pattern I made for a kidney belt I made for myself. The bottom keeper on the billet, I didn't think of, but this is a great project, Chuck! Thank you as always, sir!

Hi Chuck! Firstly, AWESOME video! Thanks for sharing! I noticed that you didn't use any neatsfoot oil or similar after dyeing the leather and before applying the leather balm with atom wax. Why is that? I am new to leather craft, so any insight would be amazing for me! Thanks again!

Why are some holster belts curved and some straight.. Some belts will have a dog-leg in the belt itself, while othe t s like yours is straight?

One thing that he doesn't say in this video that you should do if you're hand stitching is that you can't do it with just a chisel. Since this is a gun belt, it's pretty thick. It looks like the maximum weight of the veg tan leather is 8 to 9 oz, and I'll guess that the suede is 2 to 3 oz. That makes it 10-12 oz in weight, and if you can punch through both with a chisel, your chisel will bend or break because of it. I'm speaking from experience. You need to start the holes with your chisel and use an awl to get all the way through, or mark the holes and use your awl to make the entire hole. An alternative way is to punch holes in the suede and veg tan separately and then glue them together, but that can be difficult, and i can't guarantee that your chisels will be unharmed. I just don't want you guys to break your chisels like I did.
