There are about 113 described weaver species in the world and 40 of them are represented in Uganda. This video contains 13 of those species. After choosing a site, the male weaver will build a nest from reeds, grasses and other vegetative matter. Once it is finished, it is inspected by his chosen partner. If the nest proves to be unsatisfactory, she will tear it apart and the process begins all over again!
Many weavers exhibit a color scheme of yellow, orange and black making it difficult to differentiate the species. One must look carefully at the pattern of coloration, as well as the eye color in order to aid in identification. Hope you enjoy!
