Beginner weavers often make the error of beginning their woven project right at the bottom of the loom, making it difficult to remove and knot their work easily. In this video, The Oxford Weaving Studio founder, Cassandra Smith, demonstrates how to weave in a 'stopper' yarn or card stock to add in extra space between the first row of weaving and the frame, making it far easier to remove your woven project from your frame loom.

Hi Mary Ann, so sorry I missed your comment! And I think you’re referring to a heddle bar. On a frame loom the heddle bars are actually the top and bottoms of the frame as they fix the spacing on the loom are where your yarn sits. But you can have an additional heddle bar in the middle of the frame to space the yarns differently than the top and bottom called a rotating heddle bar. This is a good feature if you only want to do 1 pattern continuously, plain weave. but if you want to change patterns frequently, it’s not that useful. More on that in another video I think!! hope that helps, Cass

Hi! I can’t say why your warp has come off without seeing your loom. But it might be because your loom does have ‘notches’ at the top and bottom to secure it? Or maybe your warp isn’t tight enough? Check those first. ☺️

Hi Denise, I totally agree! This was one of my first ever videos, so not a slick delivery for sure. But I'm always learning!
