This is last part to my weaving series and this video will show you how to remove your weaving from the loom and do the finishing work.
If you want to make the full woven wall hanging then watch Part 1 and all the following parts to complete the woven wall hanging. Each part will go over another weaving technique. This way you can choose what type of weave you like and create your own fabulous wall hanging or use my instructions to make the full woven hanging that I have created for you.
All my weaving videos will be in my "WEAVING INSTRUCTIONS" playlist for you to reference at any time. Here is the link: • WEAVING INSTRUCTIONS
Supplies:
-scissors
-darning needle with large eye
a piece of dowel, driftwood or stick to hang your woven wall hanging
-yarn for the braided hanger: bernet Softee baby wool in grey, Bulky white yarn, Lion Brand Homespun, Bernat Baby Coordinates
-masking tape
-a piece of cardboard the length of your weaving or the cardboard we originally used for our weaving project at the bottom of our warp threads

Thank you Patti, this was a brilliant demo of how to finish off a weaving. It is the thing I panic about the most in weaving, and never sure if I am doing it right. You also speak clearly and carefully, so it is easy to take it in while watching. I am going to go back through all your videos -thank you so much.

I watched all the episodes to comment at the end - absolutely beautiful!! I made a long 12"x36" frame loom from a gallery wrapped canvas, so the frame is very strong and dense. I also added an eye screw at the 2 corners at the top to hang 2 long metal rods so that when I start the rows, they will be wrapped around the rods so the finished piece will be nice and even, and not be all wonky looking. Thank you so much, you do beautiful work!! 🥰🤗💖🌹🧶

hi Patti.. have really enjoyed the teaching in your weaving series! thanks so much for sharing your bag of tricks ;) i recently found a vtg lily table top loom but had to order user manual meanwhile after viewing your first tutorial i gained courage and was so impatient to start weaving, I lit. geabbed framed print off the wall, pulled out glass (but hoping not to sacrifice frame) decided to try w/o even the nails! LOL so just started wrapping warp~then simply ran a strip of tape across frame top and bottom (stop cringing at me like that! lolol) and would you believe..using a few of more proper techniques I picked up from you.. it not only *worked!* but i love it ♡ how can I share, or where can I send pics?

Hi I did all these types of weaves in college in the ‘80’s. Made several. Are they coming back into vogue? It’s nicely done. Good repetition. Just a few thoughts-Did you consider weaving to the top and turning top down and stitching to make a pocket? You could still have the cord or not. I mention this ONLY as it is a personal pet peeve. The round stick you used is a dowel, a noun. Doweling is the verb. You placed the dowel (noun) in the shed to hold a place for the shed stick or used the dowel (noun) to make consistent loops. You are obviously an educated person and you need to demonstrate it in your teaching. I like to see people portray themselves accurately as the educated people they are. I hope my explanation comes across gently as I really tried to be kind. Thank You for sharing your expertise and bringing back memories! Bernadette

I was giving the weaving as a gift and was unsure of what she wanted to hang it on so that’s why I left the longer loops on the top. Yes the bohemian style of decor has definitely brought this type of weaving back. A lot goes into making a video and I design as I go. I’m also editing, thinking about how to explain the process, paying attention to camera positions and more. So much to think about so I obviously let some grammar slide. The important thing to me is showing the process but thank you for pointing out the grammar mistake.

I have so many questions! Can I use this loom to make rugs? Can I use non-stretch cotton cord as my warp and fabric strips as the weft? Would this work for twining?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts 6 жыл бұрын
The size of loom I made could make a rug that is about 20” wide by about 24” long. If you want a larger rug than you would need to buy larger stretcher bars or make a larger frame. Cotton yarn works great for your warp threads as it doesn’t stretch but if you are ever going to wash the rug I would wash in cold water only just in case the cotton shrinks and causes your rug to buckle a bit. You can use anything you want for your weft threads. Yarn strips sounds perfect for a rug and if you are using cotton warp threads and cotton fabric for the weft that would be perfect. Yes, you are the artist. As far as I’m concerned with this type of weaving you can use anything for your weft so if you want to use twine then use it. Just depends on the look and effect you want. Enjoy your weaving projects! You’ve given me more ideas too! Thanks!
