Problem 01:
A slasher is sizing a warp with 2500 ends, the count of the warp yarn being 20 tex. The percentage of size put on the warp is 15% on the weight. If the calculated production of the slasher is 120 m/min and efficiency is 75%. Calculate following-
a) Actual production per shift of 8 hours in metre. [43200 m]
b) Actual length of yarn sized [10,80,00,000 m]
c) Actual weight of unsized warp [2160 kg]
d) Actual weight of sized warp [2484 kg]
Problem 02:
The actual production of a high-speed slash is 4500 yds per hour. If the percentage of elongation of warp during sizing is 0.5% and wastage of warp is 45 yds, Calculate the time that would be required to size a set of 6 back beams containing 36226 yds of warp on each. [8.08 hrs]
Problem 03:
The actual production of a high-speed slasher is 32400 yds per day of 8 hours. If the calculated speed is 90 yds/min, find out the efficiency of machine. [75%]
Problem 04:
The weight of sized yarn on a beam was found to be 82.5 lb. The beam contains 1050 yds of warp, whose count before sizing was 50s cotton. If the no. of ends in the warp is 3000, calculate the following-
a) Weight of size on the yarn [7.5 lbs]
b) Percentage of size put on yarn [10%]
c) Count of sized yarn [45.5s]
Problem 05:
The average production (actual) per loom of a weaving shed is 6.1 yards of cloth per hour. The up-take of warp in weaving was found to be 8%. If the production (actual) of the slasher, which is required to supply loom beam to this weaving shed, is 29128 yds/day of 8 hrs, Calculate the number of looms it can keep running. Allow 0.75% as waste of warp. [548 looms]
