Web Controlled Relay / Smart phone access

This video will introduce you to hardware that can be used to build Web controlled systems. Web controlled relay boxes can be plugged into a common Ethernet switch that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Cool. Pretty similar to a Sonoff device, no? They look pretty costly (~$100 USD) while you can get a Sonoff for >$10 USD.

If I wanted to control a pump with this I would need 2 correct ? One relay for the switch and one for the pump

Yes ... all you really need is a simple web server that can activate a relay.

? Can one of these boxes communicate to another one. Basically if a switch is closed on one side can it close the switch on the other side. I’m trying to run a doorbell 1000 feet I already have a network down there I’m trying to add a doorbell at the gate. And put it on my net work. Your help would be greatly appreciated thanks

The biggest problem with this is not being able to set the IP address. If you have multiple boxes, they would all be on the same IP address. What good is that? So thanks for the review and the warning.

The factory default address is 192.168.1.2 but there is a configuration page where you can change the IP address to build your own custom network of boxes.

Yes you can. 1. Get a static IP address from your Internet Service Provider and use port forwarding to access the web relays. or 2. Sign up for a 3rd party Dynamic DNS service which let you associate a domain name with your IP address. www.controlbyweb.com/support/faq/accessing-cbw-modules-from-internet.html
