One correction: remember, that the fuel intake line comes long enough to reach the bottom of pretty much any fuel tank. So it's during the installation process that the decision has to be made, how far from the bottom of the tank it will reach, to avoid depleting the tank entirely. You just cut off the access. In that sense it's not a product feature in itself, but a conscious installation choice. It's a common practice, still, if you let someone install it for you, make sure to discuss that ;) Thanks for the review!

I installed a Chinese unit in October of 2018. I have been using it without issue. The longest I have run it so far at one time is 7.5 hours. The battery was not affected and the van started right up. These things are awesome. All I need to do is insulate my van a bit to try and hold in the warm air. A project for this summer.

Would you mind explaining how the rheostat/control knob works? Will the unit shut off based where you set the knob or will it kick out air at a temperature (based on the knob setting) and run continuously until you shut it off? Thanks for the video, btw! :)
@RollingEarthShip
@RollingEarthShip 3 жыл бұрын
When I turn the knob to a certain location that by experience I already know it will stay at lets say 68 degrees, then the Webasto will heat up the van till it reaches that temperature, afterwards it will stop blowing heat and only the fan will circulate air through the unit. When the inside temperature drops it starts heating up again repeating the process. Hope that helps. 🖖🏻🚐

@@misocveticanin578 The Webasto Air Top analog rheostat controller does not have a temp sensor in it; the sensor unit is located within the heating unit itself. Regardless, the controller and the sensor work in unison to control the vehicle interior ambient air temp to what has been positioned on the dial rheostat controller. If one upgrades to the digital controller or buys a kit featuring the digital controller, that controller has a temp sensor located in the controller, so it will sample ambient air temps at the height at which the controller is placed.

@@RollingEarthShip ah that's a shame. 8*12 is about 100 watts per hour, which is kind of a lot actually. You can get a hot carpet the size of a single bed and run that for just 200w/hour. The carpet has to be the size of the area you want to heat though to work, and your insulation has to be decent. I use two large ones in my studio apartment during winter as my only source of heat and it works great.

Can you tell me about how hot the output is on these? I’m worried that it may melt some of me venting in my truck as I am wanting to tap into the factory vents. Thanks for the video

I dont know if it would melt your ducting but I can tell you, the air coming out of the webasto is hot, very hot. It gets hot enuff you cant hold your hand in front of it. Mine is not connected to the van duct work. It is on the floor and I keep tue vent oointed up so it isnt blowing on the carpet. I think it could possibly melt my carpet

Those heaters are $2000 Canadian, to much money. also with a self build camper or motor home the heating source can not come from the fuel tank that runs the vehicle, it has to be separate.
@RollingEarthShip

Why does it have to be separately, is that a Canadian law?

@@RollingEarthShip In British Columbia it is for home build campers and motor homes, unfortunately.

The only problem is the huge price tag. 600.00 would be too much let alone $1600. Avoiding chinese products is good but I could buy 8 of those for the cost one of these and they generally are only slightly less quality and go for years. Webasto then insults me by saying if I give them 1600 they will give me a 'free' 10 litre fuel tank but you only get one fan tube unless you pay more - more? - insulting more than anything. For 1600 dollars it would want need to look and act like Ginger Rogers.

With the low prices of about $200 I would probably get one too. 👍🏻🖖🏻🚐🏍
