Great amount of info here, thanks. I’m doing up a van into a camper and i got the thermo top v and it looks incredibly similar to the evo 5. You’ve saved me some money because I was going to buy a cheap evo to rob parts and service the thermo top v.👍🏾

One question: can a 2010 TT Evo be used in a 1995 Land Rover Discovery 1 300TDI? this vehicle does not have an ECU or software to control the functions of the heater.... I am about to buy a used TT Evo, it comes from a wrecked VW Transporter van.... is it possible to use the TT Evo in my Discovery 1? what connections should i make? from Patagonia... thank you very much!!!... Hi, very informative video. I have an TT evo5 unit from a 2019 bmw, I noticed you mentioned you had a VW heater, what has to be done to retrofit a brand specific OEM evo unit into another vehicle? I presume you need to delete off the bmw canbus/ encryption or change it from canbus to the universal W bus? Is there something you can buy to do this? Thanks

Hello - what vehicle do you want to install the bow TTevo5 on? Did the vehicle previously have factory fitted TTevo5? if NO, then you will need this software ( wibutec-shop.com/Webasto-Zuheizer-Upgrade-Software-mit-Dongle-fuer-VW-Amarok-S1-S6-ab-ca-082016-bei-Aufruestung-zur-Standheizung )to change the can bus to universal.

@@germplus hi, it's an older e series bmw that won't communicate with newer can us protocol of the ttevo.. The ttevo came from a g series. I've talked to a few uk companies that sell kits, they both say its not possible to use an oem specific evo in an other vehicle, it can't be converted they say.. Could be sales talk! . They dont sell a universal ecu board either. There is a tt vevo for my car, it shares the same burner as the evo but with my older Cambus protocol, I may just go for that as it would work through my IHKA with coding, I just wanted the latest tt model. I did find a company in Hungary who sells evo boards converted to manual on/off for £170. I looked at the link you sent, says it's to activate aux heating on a vw amarok? Are you sure it's possible to change an oem board to a universal w bus with software only? I've never heard of this. There's the 5kw latest erbaspacher 3 d5e Cs water heater kit with a nice diagnostic controller/timer for £1200 and 3 years warranty.. Decisions decisions!

​@@alang6238 the hungarian retrofit ECU give a lot of EMI back to your 12V line AS these are more Amateur build then anything. Just leave the board original BMW of VW, you have only one Chance with parking heating retrofit from OEM heater! 1. Buy kkl USB webbasto interface with their software an make the OEM unit run with it in diagnosis mode. = profit done You now know for sure that the BMW OEM unit is "w-bus" capable with original hardware 2. 60€ little box called "w bus emulator" will run your OEM unit in any car for a fixed time by a switch or a remote receiver from eBay/aliexpress

No you need w bus capable heater No unlock can bus unit will work as of now without the car and the can messages constant coming in :-)
