Weber 3-Barrel Carburetor for Porsche

This is a set of Weber IDA from 1966. In this set, the floats had completely collapsed. Along with the usual cleaning, polishing, and rebuilding, we added some updates. The updates included removing the W-shaped throttle connector, an adjustable throttle link, an axe head cam, along with all new spansil floats. Most of the brass jetting was also replaced, as age and reaming can take their toll.
We like to use a clear coat aluminum finish from Cerakote. This will keep the carburetor set looking like new.
A run test is great for checking function, but as we say, "no load is no test", and a test drive will confirm all is well.

Great video as always. You have colored Weber triples to their original color in the past, what coloring process was used for those?

We used to send out the carburetor bodies and have them Chem-filmed. Although with todays laws most of the shops that used to do that have shut down and the ones that are still doing it are just too expensive. Now we are using Cerakote to coat the carburetor bodies. This is actually a really good thing as the bodies are so much better protected from corrosion and the general engine by products than with the original coating. Kurt

Just curious. You spent quite a bit of time setting up the carbs in a test engine. Won’t those steps have to be repeated on the customers engine.

Yes of course, however, this is the only way to truely test the carburetor function. It also eliminates a lot of issues when people put the carburetors onto their engine. Unfortunately Carburetor skills have been lost as there is such a small demand for them these days. Both by owners and mechanics. We have had mechanics in the past screw up a set carburetors so bad that they cant even get the engine to start or stay running long enough for them to fix it. Then they send the carburetors back to us usually saying that we caused the issue. At that point we point to the video as proof of life, then install on our engine and retune again and of course a second video of the carburetors running again. Thanks Kurt
