As a former power washing business owner for decades, I loved all your cleaning methods. One note of caution. Open the top before igniting the burners especially after using cleaning solutions inside. You never know if there may be a pocket of propane or cleaning solvent gasses in there. Don't want the lid blowing up into your face. Excellent results for your yearly cleaning!

I used to have a grill cleaning business so this was satisfying to watch! One tip for harder to clean grates: use a wire wheel (from Harbor Freight) and attach it to a drill and have at it, it won’t damage it at all. These Webers are a little harder to clean because of the material used for the hood and box, but cleaning it regularly and early will make it last a long time.

Thanks for the presentation, Im about to clean my Weber Genesis II grill the same way you cleaned yours. We had a bunch of steaks and what nots on the grill yesterday, and I encountered a flare up, and after securing all the valves on the grill and tank, the flames were still about 1.5' high. I didn't have a fire extinguisher at the ready, though I did have a box of Armor Hammer baking Soda, and that baking soda knocked that fire down quick. I remembered while serving in the US Navy over 30 years ago that Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) is the chemical thats inside dry chemical fire extinguishers., and knowing that saved the grill, and perhaps our backyard.

I agree with your cleaning. I do this after the season every year. OIL/Grease gets rancid after a while. That is why you can't keep oil very long. This year I painted the outside with high performance engine paint. It needed it, it was getting rusted and I bought new grates. Mine is a CharGrill, it is many years old. Needed a reboot, and I put a tarp on it for winter, it sits outside.

I get that WTF, and a I never knew that was possible, I usually use the smoke chips, mesqite is my personal favorite but, different woods for different meats. Very good video. I would only suggest that you fire up your grill first on highest heat for 30 minutes to burn off 90% of the residue first, and after it cools do what this video shows. I do this with my Genesis several times a year, and it looks like new after five years. I had a regulator hose malfunction last year, and called Weber, and since it has a ten year guarantee they sent out a new one. Weber is a great American company.
