Cooked my first ever whole chicken tonight this way in the Webber2200. I didn't have Za'atar, but used BBQ Rub and All purpose spice and put crushed garlic in the olive oil rub. It was the best Whole chicken I have ever had (way better than BBQ Chickens from the supermarket), Thanks.

Excellent video! Zaatar is pronounced like Zatter, with no hard 't' sound in the middle. Like 'butter'. It's sometimes used as a rub but more often eaten for breakfast with bread dipped in olive oil and then dipped straight into the Zaatar. It's also mixed with olive oil and then spread on mini rounds of dough and then baked to make mini Zaatar pizzas, called manakish! I'd be interested to see you make manakish on your grill!

Awesome video! I am blessed in that I have a Weber Summit S-670, a Weber Performer Deluxe, a Weber Smokey Mountain, and I also picked up a Weber Q 1200 for camping. After buying and using the Weber Q 1200, I started recommending it to my friends who lived in apartments because I was very impressed with it's ability to grilled food. I've take to using it at home when I just want to do something quick like grilling a couple chicken breasts after work. I subscribed!

Just recently purchased my Weber Q 2200. After a few warm-up grill sessions with sausages et all, I thought I’d try something new and looked for a grilled chicken recipe. Had all my accessories and ingredients (including Za'Atar) lined up - and of course my family was anxiously awaiting the results. So after a bit over an hour, what can I say: they love me even more! Delicious, simple, and just right for my Weber. Might just go for wings and legs next time; should be finished even quicker. Thanks for the inspiration! PS: since I’m originally from Brooklyn, this recipe was like a homecoming! Best regards, Russell (Hamburg, Germany)

Love your video, just bought theQ2200, but Weber discontinued both the roasting rack and roasting shield. I bought a third party roast rack and use the Kingsford grilling shields foils ,it has the perforated slits . Complained to Weber , but no advice on replacements. Tried locating on Amazon all out of stock. Just to give a heads up on any one who can't find the accessories,just buy a different make. Love your videos , looking forward to more.

Hi there. Loved your video! Thanks for sharing. I'm considering a Weber Q2200 for my small deck in the city. I'm in Montréal, Canada, so a warm hello from up north :) Do you think the Q2200 is worth the extra $$$ over the 1200 series? I used to live in the burbs and I had some serious barbecuing power there (Weber charcoal kettle, big propane grill...) so I want a small machine but that can handle a lot. All the best!
@GallaghersGrub
@GallaghersGrub 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Canada! I've never tried the 2200, but it looks like the same grill as the 1200, just bigger. For an extra $50, if you have the space, I'd go for the bigger grill, especially if you're going to have parties. The 1200 is great though for my small family. And it's easier to take on the road. Thanks for watching!
@fredericaugustin7571
@fredericaugustin7571 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. Your recipes are amazing! Indeed the 2200 is bigger. I don't need so much space though. But I noticed the 2200 had a 12,000 btu/hour rating vs. 8,500 btu for the 1200 so I was wondering if that meant a greater searing power, but you seem to cook pretty much anything fast on the 1200... Plus the 2200 is $70 more in Canada (thanks to our weak dollar haha).
@STARLITER
@STARLITER 5 жыл бұрын
Frederic Augustin I am asking myself the same thing. Q1200 vs Q2200. The Q2200 is 30% bigger, and probably that’s why it needs 30% more gas power. After watching this channel I am more inclined to a Q1200. (and use an older charcoal for parties). On the other hand, will I ever take it someplace else? Probably not. Did you go for the baby Q or the medium Q?

I liked your way, very simple, straightforward with minimum herbs. Why have you put lemon inside the chicken? If I want to use charcoal do I need to add more charcol after an hour?
@GallaghersGrub
@GallaghersGrub 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Saad. As the lemon heats up, it releases steam to keep the chicken breast moist from the inside. With a charcoal grill, yes you should add 5 or 6 charcoal brickets every hour or so.

I prefer smaller 4 lb organic chickens. Non-organic chickens tend to be larger, about 5-6 lbs. Big chickens seem a bit odd to me though. Are chickens really supposed to be that big? Not sure I trust all those growth hormones, so I stick to the smaller ones. But if you're feeding a big family, it can all come down to cost savings. I think a big chicken can fit in your Q1200, either way.

Whole chicken I always go 20 mins/pound at 375ºF. Spatchcock should cook more quickly since it's all spayed out. More like 15 mins per pound.

Sorry to read Weber has discontinued the roasting rack and shield. I bought a Q 2200 a year ago because our condo does not permit charcoal. I used to be good with ribs but have found the propane indirect grilling a real challenge. I am sorry Weber has chosen not to support their products. Thank god for the Fire Escape Griller. Kona Bob

I can still get them in Australia. You can make a substitute shield with a few layers of aluminium foil (you need to poke a few holes to slow the heat through). Maybe a large cake cooling rack could substitute for the roasting rack? Regards, Peter
