Very informative webinar. I am starting to apply for an application to meet with Dr. Adams. From his expertise I feel comfortable putting my heart in his hands. Very anxious to meet him. His knowledge is outstanding.

It's nearly ten years later much better outcomes now much better techniques in a not very well understood heart problem in terms of the public.

I have only recently been diagnosed with severe mitral valve stenosis and the wheels are already turning for open heart surgery to replace the valve. They seemed to put far more emphasis on repair rather than replacement and I only wish repair was an option for me as the less invasive procedures are far more attractive. Nonetheless, I will take whatever I am offered and be grateful! Adam (Pick), you asked all the right questions and I am so grateful for your work. I have your book and knowledge is power. Thank you.

I Had diagnosed with MILD MVP, Is it risky, is there any surgery or treatment needed in this case?

Hi Patel, Great question. Surgery is not typically required for mild mitral valve prolapse. However, we would encourage you to consult your medical team to learn more about your specific form of heart valve disease. Our thoughts are with you!

I hope the doctor talking a 3:45 is better at telling left from right when he's operating than when he's talking.

He meant the left side of the heart, the oxygenated side. It is the red side, and on the right in this diagram, because you are looking "in". If you were that person in the animation, it would be the left side of your heart.

I have a leaky valve and I’m terrified, I’m a single father of a 7 year old girl and I’m terrified of dropping dead in front of her, and I can’t leave her she needs me, I’m out of breath constantly and getting palpitations all the time, I live in the UK and the NHS has massive problems right now, I’m on a waiting list, I wish I lived in America and had health insurance, I can’t think to the future as I don’t know what’s gonna come, and I’m terrified for my daughter, I wish I was rich and could get this operation done, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I was once the British champion freestyle wrestler, I’m still relatively fit, ( until I started getting shortness of breath) I’m absolutely shocked that this has happened to me, I consider my self strong and brave, but ever since the symptoms have got far worse I look at my daughter while she’s asleep and feel like I’m gonna cry, I realise I’m not the brave strong guy I always thought

I understand your concern for your little girl, hope the best for you. I too just diagnosed with 2 mild leaky valves. I'm just lucky I live in NY and I have a good insurance. I have a grown-up son and I'm still worried about him, he's my only child. My cardiologist though is not planning any procedure yet, but I have good questions for him on my next appt. In the beginning you don't know much what to ask.

Hi Adam. So my question is. When I was 46 years young I had a Medtronic model 310C31 mitral valve procedure. This valve should be good for 10 to 15 years +or- hopefully more on the plus side. So when it's time to go thru this again what are MY best option at this time. I'm working on being 50 in February. I'm I very good health and FEEL wonderful. Thanks for all your hard work.

So glad I found this video before my CT scan and consultation with Heart Surgeon as I really was not sure what to ask or even expect. I laughed when he mentioned asking spouse, my wife points out symptoms that I don't I have! A heart murmur started me down this rather surprising road when I was told the Echo showed mitral valve relapse and an aortic aneurysm.

Thanks a lot for such a clear and very encouraging information that gives me hope to live longer. I now have a moderate leaky valve.

I thank all three of you, and especially Dr Adam’s for clarifying that my prolapse is not life threatening enough for me not to take time to consider my options. All the best, from Crete - Greece.
