HI Is it possible to explain Distortional Buckling in CFS Beams ?
@ClearCalcs2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question here! Here's the answer from our one of our engineers: "Distortional buckling is a bit tricky. A (perhaps oversimplified) explanation is that it's very similar to local buckling, but instead of just one element buckling (e.g. a slender flange), multiple elements buckle locally together as one - thus making the cross-section appear distorted. It's essentially just another failure mode - for members that have stiffened flanges (e.g. typical studs), this might govern - where the web and flanges buckle together instead of just the flange buckling." If you want to ask further questions, please reach out to us at help@clearcalcs.com. 👋🏽

Is there any different concept between code AISI S100-16 and AS4600:2018? or the different is just the unit were using?
@ClearCalcs2 жыл бұрын
Hi Geoselva, the codes AISI S100-16 and AS4600:2018 are referring to the different building standards applicable to different countries i.e. US and AU, respectively. For more info, refer to the following: Cold-Formed Steel Beam Design to AS4600:2018 - clearcalcs.com/calculations/au/cfsSteelBeamAS4600-2018 Cold-Formed Steel Beam Design to AISI S100-16 - clearcalcs.com/calculations/us/cfsSteelBeamAISI
