In an effort to reduce food loss and waste across the country, the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program is leading a national Community Foods Project (CFP) Food Loss and Waste (FLW) effort. The initiative supports projects that align with USDA activities aimed at reducing food loss and reducing food waste, getting surplus wholesome food to individuals, and developing linkages between food producers, providers, and food recovery organizations. The national SARE Food Loss and Waste Program has launched with a fantastic funding opportunity. The purpose of the grant project is to implement outreach, training and technical assistance efforts to build capacity for food loss and waste initiatives.
SARE Food Loss and Waste Program Manager Lisa Johnson walked participants through the details of the Call for Proposal and answer participant questions related to the grant in a webinar which took place May 7 from 12 p.m. (NOON)- 1 p.m. EST.
