V Interesting seminar. At what stage after the potential loss of a Eureka 3 AUV would you claim it lost at sea and would you issue a notice to mariners as it being a hazard to shipping ?

We have multiple redundant systems to avoid loss of Eureka AUVs. The vehicles should always be able to get to the surface and use satellite modem to call home. In the very unlikely situation the vehicle is dead on the seabed we have a backup battery with a 30 day pinger and a flashing light. We would recover the vehicle using a ROV and a winch from the rescue ship. Give the costs of each AUV will would never not recover them.
