Glad I found your passionate guidance Pierre. So very much appreciated the entwined bio-knowledge ! Its vital to share the microbiome to enlighten human minds and hearts or they just dont understand why biomes need to be under guardianship in the shadow of climate change ! I hope you have an advanced vid. too .. ;) Especially lighting in small tight nesting spaces. Hybrid cam is vital for projects [my side].. to show animation of insect behaviour & stills for resource. greetings from a naturalist in SA.

Hi and thks for the nice comments. Yes we need to work to promote conservation, and images are a good way to do that. Other videos in prep and all ideas welcome. I use samll LEDS a lot now, will probably do another video on that sometime in the future. Cheers

Great instruction and wonderful examples. You were trying to remember “centre weighted metering” (On the Z9 center-weighted metering can be adjusted: you can choose the inner circle produces 75% of the meter weighting or an averaged screen. Your choices are: Small 8mm central circle used for 75% of exposure Standard 12mm central circle used for 75% of exposure Average Exposure is averaged over entire image area)

Thankyou so much for this tutorial. I live in South Africa on the boarder of Kruger Park (near Mozambique). As Kruger has become so very busy I have switched to macro and really enjoying moving around my subject. Please do more tutorials especially on shooting in manual or do you use AP? I am trying both at the moment.

Hi Carol ! Nice to have a viewer from SA ! Lots of nice subjects for macro in your country I am sure. I use MF exclusively in macro, since AF will not work in general at close distances / high magnification. Best way is really to set focus and then slightly move forward/backward while shooting. And shoot sevral frames always. There will always be one which is sharper or with the proper focus on eyes. More tutorials in preparation on various topics, but your request duly noted :-)

Thank you. For now all workshops (mine in France, with IRIX or our Borneo Macro Masterclass) have been cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID. Nothing yet programmed for 2022 as we are awaiting to see how situation evolves. I will advertise on Facebook and Instagram if something is organized in 2022

When you say proxy, I’m guessing you as talking about close up photography? Yes/no?

yes but Closeup photo is more of a general term for magnified images. True "macrophoto" starts really at 1:1 and beyond. For lower magnifications the appropriate term is "proxyphoto". That applies well to butterflies / dragonflies often shot at low magnfications
