When you hear Robins part of the song at the end it just hits you on an emotional level as well as them all together. Robin had this distinctive “something” to his voice that was so lovely. Massachusetts is another one among many. Legendary group, the BeeGees. Not another like them before or since.

It's called a vibrato! It's when you make your singing voice 'shaky' in a way that it fits in the song. Barry's voice was unique because of his falsetto while Mo's voice though less heard was also deep and nice sounding.

Barry said the reason they did split up for 16 years is because they did let their money, women, & fame go to their head. They were too young to know how to handle it. When they were young, they stayed in big trouble. They stole stuff, burned things down (Maurice didn't). Barry smoked weed, Robin took pills, & Maurice drank. Barry got them together one day & said, we can be famous or end up in jail. He took the knives they just nicked & threw them in the lake. Thank God they made a decision to give us all beautiful music & joy to our lives. (Hope I didn't text too much. Thought you might enjoy)!

And, honestly, Robin does seem to be deflecting the credit of their humble beginnings (because barry WAS the first to compose) off of barry.

@@juantarctica I feel the same ... for me the falsetto is what made the group sexy ... here's this hunk of a man with the charisma to sing high ... its so penetrating and he gets lots of attention because he knows how to emote with it ... Robin may have felt that Barry stole the spotlight with it, just like Robin could steal the spotlight with his vibrato, and oddly Mo would make fun of that, under his throat. When you have a body you have an ego and it takes years to learn how to manage it and stay sympatico with those around you because of envy and jealousy and our insecurities of thinking we are not as good as someone else.

It is sometimes a distraction from the craziness but it is also something that I instinctively feel like I am supposed to learn about this journey or life I’m living. They’ve helped me in processing difficulties like sibling rivalries, persevering during career highs and lows, and working through periods of being unbalanced mentally, dealing with profound loss and grief.
