Experience is determined by how many hits you get in on the enemy. Higher strength doesn't increase the amount of EXP gain. But keeping your strength low will allow you to get more hits in for more EXP.

The popcorn thing actually isn't completely true though. Originally, there's basically only the Large and Small sizes. Prices are based on these sizes, they then throw in the Medium size and charge more relative to its size so that you're more likely to buy the Large. Never buy the Medium, it's a scam. Love the content though, really makes my day!
